I just experienced a 20 minute internet outage... and realized just how reliant I am on the internet.
From streaming a TV show, to working on a website, and social networking (playing Cityville baby! and catching up on the twitterverse), my day is surrounded by the internet and it's tools.
Insane.
I kept power cycling my router and modem in hopes that I did something wrong, but the outage was out of my control.
Way to go Time Warner...
OH HOW I HATE YOU YET LOVE AND NEED YOU AT THE SAME TIME, TIME WARNER!

Yeah, me and my girlfriend have realized in the past that without Wikipedia to rely on, we're basically retarded.

I thought this said "Internet Outrage". Luckily, no one here ever overreacts to anything. Ever. So we could hardly relate to such a concept.

I was without the internet for a whole year (2009). My eye still twitches.

I was out for 3 days once, it's amazing how much we rely on this thing to do virtually most everything anymore.

I'm pretty sure I'd choose to lose a limb over permanently losing internet access.

Without the net, I have no idea what's going on in the world.
You can't rely on TV for news anymore. They just don't offer any depth.

Yeah, I did a week without it a month or so ago and it was a surreal scene man.

I once had ten full days without it. Last year I lost it for several hours. Really weird how it dominates almost every aspect of our lives.

Last summer, I was having internet troubles, where it would go out for hours at a time. Fortunately, I have video games to hold me over during that time. ;D

If you think losing the Net is bad, lose power for the same amount of time.
I've often argued that a week long global power outage would take generations to recover from the damage, if we ever recovered. Day 1, we'd be fine. Sometime on Day 2 the looting would start. Day 3 would be mass chaos as people realize there is almost no clean water without power for 97% of the World's Population.
after that, who knows. Might even be worse than a Zombie Infestation, because at least Zombies won't stab you in the back over a bottle of water.

Occasionally I "unplug" myself from everything. It's actually quite satisfying. Permanently, I couldn't live without technology, but it's good to have a break once in a while.

I thought the title read "Internet Otunga" and I was like "What?".
I went through 2 separate periods of no internet, more specifically, no computer at all, both periods lasted a little over 3 months each. I almost went crazy during both periods, but then after a while, I kind of got used to it. But still, I can't live without it.
But my experience doesn't sound as bad as Demented's. A WHOLE YEAR?! Dude, no wonder you're psycho. I would have went on a murder spree myself by Month 5!

Same thing with me, Satsiak.
In the last two days, we've had a power outage, and then from about 7 last night until noon today, the modes wouldn't get a signal. Factor in my playstation YLOD'd on me a few weeks back, I was nearly whacking my head against the wall out of boredom.

Power outages expose how dependent we are on electricity.
A few hours without it and we basically turn into torchbearing villagers from the Tudor period.

I went without 2 weeks. Made a thread about it, too. I lose the net, I lose a lot of info, and up to the minute reports on stuff around the wrestling world.

Losing internet access does suck, but, as said previously, a power outage is much worse. I once went for 14 hours without power because some equipment in my complex owned by Edison died. By 8:00 PM the complex was completely dark and no one dared walk around without a flashlight (all the walkways are illuminated by lampposts at night so without power you couldn't see anything).
There were a lot of angry people milling around, wanting someone's head on a stick. If it had been two days or more I shudder to think what might have happened.
