MGS4 is, in my opinion, the best game so far on PS3. It has the story, the phenomenal graphics, really everything you're looking for.

Played it. Loved it. I'm still considering getting a PS2 so I could play MGS 3 some day(I played 1-2 on PC)

Has anybody even gone through MGS2, 3, and 4 without actually killing anybody? I have gone through 3 without killing anyone. I mostly tranquilized the enemies and when it came to the big chase/escape sequence, I used stun grenades, same with using the Mosin Nagant when I had to fire from a distance. My most recent playthrough of MGS2, at least the Big Shell part, I actually killed only 21 guys, and that was when I fought the Arsenal Tengus. 2, 3, and 4, all on hard as well.

I've beaten 2 and 3 on the hardest setting without killing anyone. I tried with 4... but I actually can not beat that damn final battle.

Damn, you guys are all so much better than me at these games. I'm having slight difficulties on easy.
Oh well, the games are still awesome, and that's all that really matters to me.

One of these days I'm going to have to get "Twin Snakes" again and try again with it. And since it's in the same series of games sorta, how are the Metal Gear Acid games? I'm a big fan of the Acid games. At first, I really wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy them, but the card-based system actually doesn't work too badly with MGS's stealth style, and as they're non-canon games, they're free to come up with some absolutely mind-bending plots, even by Metal Gear standards! The second game is far superior to the first, it must be said. They really streamlined and improved the gameplay, and the more cartoony graphics fit a bit better than the more realistic take of the first game. Both are well worth a go, though. The only real problem is that after a few hours playing them, you'll get up and walk somewhere, but start thinking about it in terms of the game, and wonder how many actions you have until your turn ends.

Lol, when you sink enough hours to master a JRPG into an MGS game, you tend to memorize all the enemy patterns and how exactly to beat the bosses. First time through is pretty much a disaster.

I like the series but I'd be lying if I said I understood the plot very well.

So, I'm pretty far through Metal Gear Solid 2, and it's REALLY f***ing awesome. I think I may like it even more than the first. Currently leading Emma back to strut 1 of Big Shell.
That said, holy f***ing hell I hate Rose. She has several horrible qualities of one of my exes. She's a jealous and unpleasant person. Cannot stand her.
Don't understand what everyone has against Raiden though. I think most people just hate him because he's not Snake.

It is several reasons, really: 1) He's not Snake. 2) He's a pretty boy. 3) He's not Snake. 4) He's, well, somewhat of a whiner. 5) He's not Snake. 6) At one point in the game you have to control him while he is butt naked and all he can do attack wise is side flips. 7) He's not Snake.

I have yet to see any cases where he's whiny at all. And I never minded that he's a prettyboy. But then, I'm also fond of Tetsuya Nomura's character designs for the most part, so y'know. Oh and that whole I used to dress in drag everyday thing.

I think people also didn't like being lied to about what you were going to be doing. In the demo for MGS2, you played the tanker. So the part they used to sell the game didn't tell them who the main character was or actually give a good idea of what the game would be about.

So the part they used to sell the game didn't tell them who the main character was or actually give a good idea of what the game would be about. That too. The demo was the tanker part, and most of the gameplay footage of the game was of the tanker. And the bits that weren't, ie the bits of the gameplay that were on Big Shell that they showed off had Snake, not Raiden in them. It was one of the biggest bait and switches in gaming history. Pretty much the only bait and switch I can think of that came close to it was Brutal Legend being an open world hack 'n slash RTS game instead of a straight hack 'n slash game like the demo and gameplay videos made it look like.

I'm not one of those gamers, but it seriously is one of the main complaints I've seen come up about Raiden.

My main complaint about Raiden in MGS2 didn't actually deal with him, but with Rose. I hated Rose.
I also didn't like Raiden in MGS4, but didn't mind him in 2.

I was so very angry when she got jealous of Emma because Raiden was PAYING ATTENTION TO HER and TRYING TO HELP HER GET OVER HER FEAR OF SWIMMING SO SHE COULD SAVE THE f***ING WORLD. Not to mention he was being nice to her. What a criminal.

in 2, I always hated how Otacon would always say "E.E." I don't know why, but it bugs the piss out of me.
but yeah, Metal Gear Solid is awesome, for so many reasons (#1: Liquid Snake is the same voice actor that does Leonardo on the TMNT cartoon).
