I'm honestly surprised there's no thread on this. Microsoft unveiled it on June 1st, though leaked versions have been floating around for awhile. This is what it looks like, at least so far: Apparently it's going to be more touch-centric, with an entirely new interface. Though you can still switch it back to the classic desktop interface, if you'd prefer(sort of like Ubuntu 11). I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it. Touch controls are fine for something handheld, like smartphones and tablets and all that...but I don't think I'd like it too much in a desktop/laptop sort of environment. Under the hood, apparently it's going to more efficiently use memory, which is impressive considering Windows 7 runs like a f***ing dream. What do you guys think? Also, if you wanna read more, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8 .

I know right? They've been cranking them out a lot more frequently, it seems. I don't imagine it'll be out until next year, so I guess it'll be somewhere close to 3 years by the time it comes out...but still, I feel like 7 just came out.

I just upgraded like 6 months ago. Wish they'd fixed things Windows 7 needs to have fixed before moving on to a new one already.

I agree, though honestly, I still feel like 7 is absolutely everything Vista should've been. I haven't really run into much in the way of problems with 7.

With the exception of XP, most of the OS's lasted anywhere between 1-3 years before the newest one came out.

I just got 7, like, literally two weeks ago or so. I love it and I don't really think another is needed so soon. Besides, I agree that the whole touch thing is nice but it's not really ideal for regular computers or laptops.

I figure Windows 9 is going to be the next upgrade. Normally it seems they have an assy release, then the next numbered version makes it "The way it was supposed to be"

I had a pretty good computer for the time that it came out, and it ran like shit on mine. It was slow, clunky, and just didn't work well at all. 7 is like a miracle next to it. Now I'm using Ubuntu, but that's neither here nor there.
