No, not the Family Guy joke, but times something in nature scared the living hell out of you. My Red Dead Redemption thread made me think of this one. I was camping in the mountains near San Diego, and was laying down away from the rest of my group at night. I dunno how far away it was, but I heard an actual cougar scream... and it sounded pretty damn close. And hella scary. I jumped up and ran back to the campfire area (thankfully not far) and stayed right the hell there the rest of the night. Damn nature, you scary!

I was driving down I-40 in North Carolina one time during a huge thunderstorm when a bolt of lightning hit the ground just on the other side of the highway. The concussion of the thunderclap rocked my car and for about ten minutes afterwards I could still see the afterimage out of the corner of my eye. I pulled over under the next overpass and sat in my car and shook for about five minutes.
Yes. Nature can freak you out.
