Pretty self-explanatory. Mostly got the idea to make the thread off of a post on the TNA boards motivating me to mention that I despise the word "gamer" or "gamers". Think it sounds both forced and condescending, which while no shock with the way people tend to treat video games in any coverage they're given still annoys me.

I don't see a problem, they play games, they're called gamers. Just seems descriptive to me.
I'd say fanboy has a somewhat negative connotation.

Funny thing about this: I'm from Detroit, Michigan, right? Which means I live in the US. Dunno why, but it seems strange that in a community of American countries (Canada, Mexico, Brazil, etc.), only people from the US are called American. Not something I hate, so much as something I find mindboggling.
One that I hate, hate with a passion, though, is minority. First off, every non-white race ought not be grouped together; although, if they were, they'd arguably be the majority, if not close to it.

I'm gonna say it :Brony is one of the douchiest sounding nicknames for a fanbase I've ever heard, compounded by the fact I just don't get the sudden appeal of a My Little Pony Cartoon to grown men... some of the fan art looks like it's bordering on a furry thing.

Twitards. I don't apply this to every fan of Twilight, just the crazy ones.

Going by etnicity worldwide, aren't white people a minority? Twitards. I don't apply this to every fan of Twilight, just the crazy ones. I thought it referred to twitter users when I first read it. Which was now when I read your post.

To be fair though, there's sick fan art for everything. Must I bring up "Freaky Wrestling Art"? I think brony works for a nickname. Though something like colt would probably work fine as well. As for ones I don't like, probably Twihards. Sounds lame.

Narutards. Honestly, I don't like this term and I'm not even a huge fan of Naruto. It's just this generation's shounen anime. That's all.
Also, weeaboo. I sometimes wonder if I fall under this category, but I remember that I do not have a waifu. Of course, knowing the term 'waifu' probably puts me under suspicion. :/

I always associated the term 'gaming' with gambling.
Also while I like video games, I find most video game fans repugnant.

Although once, someone did think I used a similar sounding slur for black people, so that was fun to explain away.

First off: There's nothing wrong with furries. I'm not one, but the stereotypical "furry" is just that. A stereotype. Second: The appeal is due to Lauren Faust taking it and making damn sure that it didn't even remotely resemble the crappy first 3 generations. While she has since stepped down, she succeeded, and then some.

Also while I like video games, I find most video game fans repugnant. Honestly, I feel the same way. Though I'll take the high road and say "most video game fans that think their opinion matters". You know what, just stretch that out to most people on the Internet in general.

"Hipster", as though we're intended to accept it as a derogatory term. It's a vaguely defined buzz-word that seems to be used to mean "anything I happen to not like".

I don't like the term "Nintendrone" because it just sounds so insulting to anybody who likes Nintendo. "Xbot" is also bad but doesn't sound TO insulting.

I took a look at the cartoon for the sake of curiosity, and still don't get the appeal. It's a cute kids show and all, but definitely not for me.

I once heard that Japanese people want to be called Japanese and not Asian. Not sure if that's true.
