I've read "Have a Nice Day" like three times, and I've noticed that lately Foley has recylced a lot of his old promos and stoylines.
Before his match with Carlito at Taboo Tuesday, he copied an old promo he had cut on Chris Candito. "Oh, Carlito (Canditio), something something brown streak in your speedo. Something something Rocky and Apollo Creed-o. Oh Carlito (Candito).
And then last night, he and Terry Funk cut a very similar version of a scene they had in ECW when Mick was doing his anti-hardcore gimmick and was a WCW lover.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found that exchange with Funk REALLY familiar...I hoped I wasnt going crazy.
Still loved it, though

It worked last night although they need to fuse some new stuff in or else it does turn sour.

Sure it's recycled. But your average WWE fan didn't have a clue what a real hardcore match was until the last WrestleMania, and the only thing they know about ECW is RVD, Taz, Paul Heyman, and chanting "EE SEE DUB."
So for most viewers, it's all new stuff.

Cornette's 7 year rule came into play again last night.
I was watching with a friend and he loved it and had no idea it was recycled. I then told him it was, and watched his heart break.

All that was missing was a shot at Eric Bischoff. The memory of wrestling fans isn't as short as WWE thinks.

I think Foley writes his own stuff. He was supposed to be the trigger for all of Funk's comments (whic is why Funk said he knew why and then asked Foley why; Funk skipped a page in his mental script). as for why do this now: It is to underscore all the history of Funk and Foley, again with Funk failing to deliver his lines properly. It may be the last big promo for two aging legends. who better to fight than someone at the same (reduced) speed. The rust won't show as much if the opponent is equally rusty. And both still take bumps and barb wire well.

This is all a set-up for Foley-Funk at ONS II. And I was disappointed. A total rehash. All that was missing was a jab at Vince.

so does Rock, Austin, Hogan, Cena, HHH and pretty much anyone else.
If it works it works. Plain and simple. Besides about 10x the amount of people heard this promo than the one in ECW. So its not like everyone has heard it before.

I found last nights duet between the "hardcore legends" quite tedious. It was very bad acting, at the start both men were missing their cue to interrupt each other at the right moment. A case in point was when Mick Foley said in reguards to something "You don't want to know" and Terry Funk just looked completely lost and confused leaving Foley to follow up a few uncomfortable seconds later with "Do you want me to tell you?"
It dont see how anyone can get so excited about what happened last night. Yes Foley successfully got heat but he was hardly getting deafening pops up to that point in recent appearances so (as someone previously pointed out) there wasn't really THAT far to go in order to get heat.
It was awkward, stumbled, clumsey with a crap ending where some guy who cant even lift his damn arm to hit anyone seemingly beating off a WWE superstar in his prime and someone in Foley who is still considered a main event talent.
I knew though that a lot of people in here would be loving it simply because of who it was. If they both came out, sat down and broke wind to 10 minutes the smarks would be marking out not realising the irony and declaring it the greatest wrestling promo of all time.
It was okay and it got Foley over as heel but that was it. I wasn't besides myself with joy.

Yeah, the fact that it was recycled from 10 years ago did take some of the edge off it since I already read the promo in Mick's 1st book
I did still enjoy it though.....the parts I didn't already have stored in my head lol

Every 7 years your allowed to do the same promos/ angles again It a very old unwritten rule of pro wrestling.
