I tip.
But. I just give them whatever loose change I have on me at the time.

I always tip well; of anything, I over tip but I've always been of the opinion that people remember you if you're a generous tipper, especially at bars and small dives.

if it's a real restaurant I always tip, unless my service was particularly horrendous (which almost never happens, let's be honest). fast food places however, hell no. especially since service there tends to be a LOT more spotty.

Pizza delivery gets at least 3 bucks from me, base rate.
Waiter/Waitress...that's different. If they're nice, I'll go to like 17.5%. But, if they go out of their way to make sure you feel like you're the only customer there...well, I don't put a percentage on it. Last time I dined out, out waitress was amazing. Our total bill was $51.83. Gave her a $100 bill and told her the rest was hers. She was that good.
Then, on the other side of the spectrum, if a server CONSTANTLY comes by the table..'You guys okay? Need anything?' every FIVE DAMN MINUTES...they're just begging for tips. In a case like that, I tip normally 10% at the most.
EDIT: From 3rd Rock From the Sun, Dick shows how to tip:

If I'm happy with the service, I tip EXACTLY 15% of my bill, not including the tax. I go lower for bad service, but won't ever go higher.

So how does tipping work in a bar in America? I mean what exactly am I tipping for?
All bar staff need to do is take your order, fill a glass, give you the drink, take your money. I mean if they take a seriously long time about it then I might complain but a tip? Baffling.

I never tip. Then again, I don't live in the USA and bar/restaurant staff get paid fair wages, and aren't dependent on tips to make ends meet. Sorry, no intention of pissing anyone off, but it really is difficult to grasp that such jobs are paid so incredibly low.

I don't order delivery pizza, nor do I eat alone at sit-down places, so it's not a problem I have to deal with 99% of the time.

I tip, mostly because by law waitstaff and other tipped employees can get shafted on their pay because tips are considered part of it. But it's based on service, quality of food, etc. But it's often more than the 10 to 15 percent.
But since I don't go out much anymore, it's mostly a non issue. And alot of it depends on my own financial situation.

I tend not to calculate it that much, but I think I usually do 10-15 percent or a little more.

I always tip unless it's impossible (like I've got enough to cover the bill and nothing more) but the second part is very rare. The only time I refuse to tip is if the waiter or whatever is just an absolute douchecanoe. An example from a while back. a bunch of us went out to grab dinner and the waiter pretty much blew us off at every turn. Ask for a refill and the guy would just walk off and no refill for like 20 minutes, we sat and watched our food sit in the window for at least half an hour so it was ice cold when it got to us, and yet the response was "I brought it out right when it got done".
I can honestly say I didn't feel bad about the lack of tip that time.
