In Australia, it's basically every state except the one you're from. Failing that, it's usually Tasmania (no offense). Tasmania and Queensland. Tasmania, Queensland & South Australia...

Russia gets Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Chechnya, Dagestan, Ossetia, Kalmykia, and all the other, semi-independent Turkic divisions. How many are there, exactly? I forget. Dagestan! Home of the great wrestling legend VOLK HAN! .... Look him up people!

In my opinion Northern Territory is the freak of Australia and not Tasmania. At least Tasmania has like you know, actual people.

Doesn't Great Britain still own the Falkland Islands(among others) for some reason? Strategic sheep purposes, if I recall correctly.

I'd also say Newfoundland because of the accent. There is Saint Pierre and Miquelon which is a French Overseas Collectivity. It's that island east of the Grand Bank of Newfoundland. Norway has a chunk of Antarctica called Queen Maud Land, and some islands surrounding Antarctica, Peter I and Bouvet Island. And I can't forget Pitcairn Island. Or Sealand.

Spain has the Canary Islands, which are located closer to Morocco than Spain.

I'm going with this.. In Australia, it's basically every state except the one you're from. Failing that, it's usually Tasmania (no offense). Every state in Oz is mental in its own fun little way. And no offence on the Tas thing. We do our dirt.

The US has Puerto Rico and Samoa, too. The Marshall Islands and Guam aren't exactly places you just head off to by car on a whim. Fun fact: The farthest eastern point in the US is actually an Aleutian Island in Alaska, that crosses over the International Date-Line.

Texas is very odd. As a Texan, I can tell you that there's the Texas the United States knows, the internationally known one, and the one you have to actually visit and see, instead of forming assumptions.

Like the US has Alaska and Hawaii, the freak States. I just wonder if any other place in the World considers part of their Nation as outside of the norm. Thanks for calling my own birthstate a freak.

Quebec is a cultural anomaly compared to the rest of Canada, but you could also throw Newfoundland in there, too. I'd say Newfoundland has a lot more in common with Ireland than it does with Canada.

The Isle of Man. I saw a programme about it where they went to some really rough pub and everyone they met hated anyone who wasn't from the Isle of Man.

Quebec is a cultural anomaly compared to the rest of Canada, but you could also throw Newfoundland in there, too. I'd say Newfoundland has a lot more in common with Ireland than it does with Canada. Someone once described it as "the most Irish place in the world outside of Ireland." Living in the Maritimes, I've heard some strange accents, especially in Cape Breton and rural PEI. But nothing compares to Newfoundland English. Some of the rural dialects are almost like languages unto themselves.
