Looking back at the old thread, I don't understand why people are shocked that the Pirates have taken two of three so far from Boston. They've actually played solid ball this year unlike seasons past. Due to the mediocrity they've endured for 18 years...they're the only other team besides my Cards that I'm ok with winning the NL Central.

Danks to the DL for the White Sox with an oblique strain.

After a terrible start in April, Mark Reynolds has gone insane.
He's been on base about 50% of the time in June, and is OPSing over 1.100

Cano breaks up the perfect game in the bottom of the fifth with a 1 out single.
EDIT: Swish hits a 2 run homer! Still 3-2 Rockies.

Jorge made it 3-3 with a solo shot. Batting .393 in June
EDIT: 4-3 Rockies after Wiggington HR

And now 4-4 after a RBI single from A-Rod.

Tigers were down 2-1 with 2 outs in the 8th, and end up beating Arizona 8-3. I'm okay with this.

The Twins left their bats in San Francisco. Milwaukee didn't sweep the Twins, they blew them out of Miller Park with a leaf blower.

You know, in 2009, it took until around July 4th weekend for the Mets' season to fall apart due to injury; up until then, they were in 2nd and within very close striking distance of the Phils.
2010, they were, I believe, 48-42 at the All Star Break and in the lead in the NL Wild Card race.
However, in neither of those years did just about any Mets fans feel that what we had going was for real. 2009 we knew we were screwed because before July 4 we were already missing Jose Reyes and Carlos Delgado. In 2010, the team had an offense that just couldn't possibly sustain itself with low OBP hitters like Jeff Francoeur and Rod Barajas, among others.
This year, they're at .500. Nothing amazing, some devastating injuries, EXCRUCIATING losses throughout the season (seriously, it's a mini-celebration any time the Mets lose like a normal team)...but the 2011 Mets have been more enjoyable as a club than the last two seasons combined.
With all that said...I really, really, really don't want to see them facing Verlander this week. The Mets have had a really good track record against elite pitchers lately, but Verlander's a different beast entirely.

I want to stop short of saying "the Twins suck", because they've been housed by injuries, but that lineup they ran out there today was brutal. Just horrible.

Carmona can't even get out of the second effing INNING without giving up runs. Seriously. DO SOMETHING WITH HIM! He's going to lose the majority of his appearances because of "confidence issues". Cleveland's Triple A pitchers are doing VERY well, and are ready. Sigh... Chad Durbin, you're no longer my most hated Indian pitcher this season... We're approaching Joe Borowski levels of "I wish a painful blister on his finger that prevents him from ever pitching again" hatred. Now let's see how Indians hitting can find new ways to embarrass themselves...

Mariners score. Doug Fister with a lead off double. Ichiro singles him to 3rd, Brandon Ryan brings him in with another single. Fister might be one of our best bats.

Dear Pittsburgh Pirates, Thank you for beating Boston 2 of 3 and letting us get 1st place back in the AL East! Love, The New York Yankees Isn't it kind of sad when someone thanks a team for beating a rival (especially when something's on the line) because it favorite team couldn't do it themselves?
