You want an example as to how perfectly the Harry Potter films were cast? When they changed directors for The Prisoner of Askaban, the three leads (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson) were given an assignment. They were told to write an essay about their character (the director wanted to know how their visions compared to his). They each wound up filling the assignment the way that their character would have. Watson wrote a small novel about Hermoine Granger, Radcliffe wrote a little over a page about Harry Potter (i.e., just adequate enough to fulfill the assignment), and Rupert Grint did not turn in a single word. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

I'll have to go with my all time favorite movie, The Princess Bride. I cannot think of anyone who could play any singular part better than it was in the movie.

There are very few "perfect" castings that I've seen.
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is quite possibly the best actor/character combo in history. Kelsey Grammer as Beast is right up there with it.
Ian McKellan was perfectly cast as Gandalf & a case can be made for "old" Magneto.
Michael Chiklis was perfectly cast as Thing in the Fantastic Four movies, which is pretty much the only positive regarding said movies. If they reboot, get him back as Ben Grimm!
I actually think the cast of "The Hangover" was as close to perfect as it could get. It was just magic.
And finally, I'd have to say the original Pink Panther movies. Peter Sellers & Herbert Lom were absolute perfection on every level as "Inspector Clouseau" & "Charles Dreyfus" respectively.

Boogie Nights and most other P.T. Anderson ensembles. Dr. Strangelove The Deer Hunter
Recently, I think Winter's Bone, Blue Valentine, and The Wrestler were all incredibly well cast.

JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson was inspired. Seriously, he is that character to the point where I can't picture anybody else playing it.
On a similar note, It's really hard to imagine anyone but Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine.
The casting in the Nolan Batman movies is pretty brilliant, especially Michael Caine as Alfred and Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow.
Watchmen had it's faults casting wise, but Jackie Earle Haley absolutely nailed Rorscach.
I also can't think of a comedic movie with a better cast than Anchorman. Everybody is pitch perfect in their roles.

Tombstone. Powers Boothe was awesome as curly Bill. Sam Elliot and Bill Paxton captured the Earp boys great. Kurt Russel just had that calm "I got this @&$&" attitude you would expect from Wyatt. Yet nobody ever really mentions these because Val Kilmer blows everyone out of the water with his epic Doc Holiday.

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Every big name comedian up to that point in time makes at least one appearance in it. My favourite performance though is Ethel Merman.

I'd say Bruce Willis as John McClane and Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.

Can I be a total jerk for five seconds?
"Casted" isn't a word. The past form of "cast" is still "cast."
Anyway, the X-men movies have a lot of perfect casting combinations. Someone already mentioned Kelsey Grammar as Beast, and then there's Patrick Stewart as Professor X.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Everyone was perfectly cast. Especially, Ray Walston as Mr. Hand and Sean Penn as Spicoli, who were awesome together. My favorite actor/role combo in the movie is Judge Reinhold as Brad Hamilton.

Even Billy Bob did a good job as the coward dealer. If there were an Oscar for ensemble cast..they would have won. ----------- Shawshank Redemption Green Mile (seriously, how great was that cast?) Flintstones (save for Rosie as Betty, but John Goodman was BORN to play Fred)

Most of the cast was really good. When it comes to faults, I was thinking more specifically of Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre and Matthew Goode as Ozymandias. Mickey Rourke as Randy "The Ram" Robinson deserves a mention here too. Hard to believe they were planning to use Nicolas Cage originally.
