In general, the Harry Potter series has been damn near perfect on terms of casting. The best one I thought was Alan Rickman as Snape for various reasons. I'm watching "Chamber of Secrets" right now and loving Kenneth Branghn as Lockhart.

Definitely agree with Potter. The only casting I dont like is Gambon as Dumbledore. Gambon is a great actor, but its much too stern for Dumbledore. To be fair though, he was their second pick to play the part, as Richard Harris died.

Pretty much everyone in the Lord of The Rings trilogy.
Michael Caine as Scrooge in The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. I don't believe there's anyone who could have played that character as well.
And the rest of the casting was spot on as well. Franka Potente, Chris Cooper, Brian Cox, Joan Allen, David Strathairn. Even Julia Stiles was good as the analyst undercover as a student.

While the movie left some to be desired, the Expendables cast was set up perfectly.

So long as they nail the casting of Lex Luthor, the cast of Zack Snyder's Superman reboot will be absolutely perfect.

Hugo Weaving as Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger. (I know the movie's not coming out, but come on, what a genius casting move.)
As for whole movies, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World had a great cast. And yes, even Michael Cera.

As much as I hated the movie, freaking Beast in X-Men 3. Kelsey Grammer was perfect for the role.

As for whole movies, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World had a great cast. And yes, even Michael Cera. True, though I would personally switch Johnny Simmons and Cera around. Simmons' Young Neil, to me, was more like what I expected a live action Scott Pilgrim would look and behave like, where as Cera's Scott Pilgrim was more in line of what I was expecting in a live action Young Neil. Hell Cera even looks like Young Neil.

Agreed with everyone who said Harry Potter. All of those movies are pretty much perfectly casted. They may not all be great adaptations of the books...but they nailed the cast each and every damn time.

You want an example as to how perfectly the Harry Potter films were cast? When they changed directors for The Prisoner of Askaban, the three leads (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson) were given an assignment. They were told to write an essay about their character (the director wanted to know how their visions compared to his). They each wound up filling the assignment the way that their character would have. Watson wrote a small novel about Hermoine Granger, Radcliffe wrote a little over a page about Harry Potter (i.e., just adequate enough to fulfill the assignment), and Rupert Grint did not turn in a single word.
