So, for those who don't know, I happen to be a MC (rapper). Last month I filmed an appearance on the show 'Spittin In Da Wip,' hosted by BET Un:Cut's Crazy Al Cayne and this week it finally aired. The concept of the show is highlighting up-and-coming rap artists as they freestyle in a car as it drives around the city. You can watch it here - (slight language warning, ONE f-bomb in the intro as I'm naming the sites I write for, afterwards it's clean sailing) www.cac-tv.com/2011/07/chaz-kangaz-on-spittin-in-da-wip/Also, you can vote my performance on a scale of 1-10 in the different categories. If you gave me all 10s, I wouldn't be mad at'cha.

Voted.

Awesome man! I've tried to rap on the spot like that, and I'm only good for one or two lines, nothing like you. Keep doing your thing Chaz, you're great!

I voted. Good stuff man. I'm still trying to get good at freestyling but damn if it isn't hard. I've been rapping since I was but a wee lad and can still barely make it through 4 lines in a freestyle before I start falling apart. Anyway, you make it look easy bro.

Wow, thanks for checking it out everybody! Happy to make you happy.
CONFIDENTIAL RAP TIPS BELOW...
The trick to freestyling I've found is, just think of the word you're going to rhyme two lines ahead, and then just let the rest fall into place. So long as the last word of each line has a rhyme to it, and you maintain a semblance of flow and it just all comes together musically.
If anyone reading this has never even attempted rapping before, I suggest giving it a try right now. It's fun and a great way to see how spontaneously your brain can work with language. I think everyone should try rapping at least once in their lives.

I just realized that my comment was a little... um... douchey.
I'd like to say this: You did kill a couple of lines very well. I'd love to battle you.

I believe that qualifies as "dope", at least from a technical standpoint. [/Bender]

Cool man, congrats!
Just watched it and 10'd it. Knew you were in NYC, but didn't know you lived in Spanish Harlem, I'm in Central Harlem myself.

Thanks again for checking it out and voting everybody! @ Kamalarambo - True indeed, Spanish Harlem. What's your favorite Soul Food spot? I'm on a quest to find the best Mac & Cheese in the city. I just realized that my comment was a little... um... douchey. I'd like to say this: You did kill a couple of lines very well. I'd love to battle you. No offense taken, thanks for checking it out. Do you have any stuff online? I'd be down for a battle too. There's a big freestyle tournament coming up in NYC the first week in October for the return of Freestyle Monday's Off-the-Head Gameshow battle. It's a tournament where, instead of being a straight-forward rap battle, they spin a wheel and whatever topic it lands on you have to use to battle your opponent. Full disclosure, here's a bit of my battle work - (language and excessively long hair warning. The first battle here is from about 2 weeks before I donated my hair. FUN FACT: this battle was also at First Avenue where they shot the concert scenes for the Prince movie 'Purple Rain')

I'm not too into Soul Food, but there are quite a few places around the Apollo Theater that are supposed to be pretty good. You've probably already checked those out.
I think my favorite food place I live around altogether might be Subconcious (though the stairs I have to take to get to it in Morningside Park are a pain). Big helpings and they are open 24 hours, can't go wrong with that.

I loved the sbarro's/Fat Boys reference as well as the Clipse reference since I'm a huge fan of them. Good stuff.

I've been watching your battles and giggling...DEAR GOD, it isn't fair. You just murder people. I knew you rapped, but I didn't know you killed. MSG me with some links of your stuff.

I think I may have you beat...
Sweet dollar tea from MacDonalds... I drink that. Super Hot Fire... I spit that. Two-and-a-half Men...
...
... I watch that.
Boom-bam-bop... badabop-boom... POW!
(Also, I'm on the UES - wish I could get some nice soul food here, but I never make it out for meals, and delivery is just too easy. Was at the Target in East Harlem last week, though)
