I just watched this and found it absolutely fascinating. Has anyone else seen it?
Documents a history of the MPAA ratings board. Talks to numerous directors and actors about the censorship of their movies before they could be released. Includes directors, Kevin Smith, Matt Stone, John Waters, Darren Aronosfsky, Maria Bello, Atom Egoyan. Director, Kirby Dick hires a lesbian family of private investigators to find out the names of the MPAA ratings board and see if the raters are actually parents of children 5-17 like the MPAA tells American parents they are.

Great film, and a great expose of the MPAA and why it needs to go away.
Hey! That rhymed! ;D

I meant to see it but never got around to it. I find the MPAA helped its point a lot by trying to bury it with an NC-17 rating.

The scene where the director tries to appeal that NC-17 rating goes to show everything that is wrong with the MPAA. According to IMDB, he ended up surrendering the rating and releasing it unrated.

I saw this a few years back, absolutely loved it. Watched it the same night I watched "F&@k".

Always loved this documentary, though it makes me wonder something. Question for our board members in the UK: {Spoiler}Is the BBFC really as harsh on violence as the MPAA tends to be with sexual themes?

The BBFC is actually preposterously lenient with what you can get away with, especially compared to the US. In fact TV is even better - after 9pm basically anything goes, from sex and violence up to the 'c-bomb.'

Pretty good, but the story's been told many times before.

I saw it for a class in college. I found it to be very interesting and exposed the MPAA people to be douches.

Definitely need to see it, and would not surprise me if MPAA needs an overhaul, but it can't be as bad as the Hayes Code.

It's a difficult one - the whole video nasties crap seems to be dying out, but the right-wing press could get on the government's case with "Sick Snuff Horror" headlines at a moments notice.

Big fan of the movie, and proof (IMO) of how indie films are more scrutinized over stuff than their corporate owned counterparts.
