Continuing on from my poll about Zeppelin's first four albums, here's a similar one pertaining to Metallica. Many see these as their best albums, not me personally but I would admit that they are the most loved throughout the Metallica community. But which is your favourite?
For me, its ....And Justice. Not even an average song on it, every one is amazing. Even if the bass is almost non existent the sound is just fantastic (And this coming from a bass player). One and Harvester of Sorrow are two of my favourite songs of all time.

Ride the Lightning. But this is like picking a favorite between three of my children... and Kill 'Em All. Granted I still like KEA, but RtL, MoP, and AJFA are on a whole other tier of excellence.

They were all awesome (heck most of their non-80's albums were good too) but Puppets is a masterpiece.

RTL. Mustaine's influence can still be heard and their sound developed.
You just can't beat tracks like "Creeping Death", "Fade to Black" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls". I could go on...

I had to pick Master of Puppets. While I love "Justice", the song Master of Puppets is by far my favorite song by them.

I love Kill em All and Justice, but Lighting is my favourite. Bells & Fade to Black are classics, and Creeping Death is always a favourite Live. Round it up with Cthulu which is amazing and i prefer over Orion and the other songs that don't even get played are pretty slick i.e. Trapped Under Ice.

RTL... aside from that "Freewill" filler track, non-stop awesome.

...And Justice for All is my favorite by a longshot.
But I really got into them more in the Black album, Load/Re-Load era. Their earlier albums were mostly way too heavy for my tastes.

Master of Puppets is damn near perfect, but Ride the Lightning isn't far off.

About my thoughts word for word. I like Lightning just a hair above Justice, but both are spectacular. I love Puppets as well but I have it third behind those two (and I think I'm one of the rare ones who does).

Where's the tie option? For me it's a tie between Master of Puppets and Justice.

Ride the lightning is the bridge from them being speed metal punks to master of metal. With Cliff Burton teaching them harmony and using what they had left From Mustaine, just a classic album. I NEVER got the Love for Ajfa, they sound so lost on the album without Cliff, even the band admitted this. They didn't get back into form till they got Bob Rock. Thou I do love one and to live is to die.
