What's everybody's opinions on these? I've always thought of them as the kind of thing that you're really just paying for a logo more than anything, but I've yet to try any of them out. Are they really worth the price tag? Or are they more for show than anything?

You're not gonna hear anything except whatever they're plugged into. Virtually soundproof.
Definitely worth the purchase if you ask me.

They're more show than anything. I've owned 3 pairs, and not a single one of them have lasted me a year. I currently use ME Electronics Ai-M6 headphones, and they're MUCH better quality than Skullcandy's are.

I'm on my third pair, but this one's lasted me at least two years.

If you go through headphones quickly then I wouldn't get a particularly expensive pair. I'm the same and usually get a Sony or Philips for around £8/$13(?). It's difficult to justify to myself paying a lot of money for headphones as I don't treat them very well.

Eh, I go through headphones like crazy. I need something that will last. You should check out Sennheiser's offerings. I recently bought, well overpaid at Best Buy, some model HD 203s, and I am very impressed with the sound and build quality. Sony headphones sound very good, but they are a little light on bass. One thing about Sony cans is that their padding always seem to fall off.

They will blast your eardrums, but they'll get shorts in 'em after 3-6 months, 2-4 if you use 'em heavily.

I had some $20 earbuds and they didn't sound any better than my cheap $5 ones. They looked cooler maybe? Yeahhhh. I like their iPod cases, though.

I have Ink'd brand ear phones, which I think a re comparable to Skull Candy, and they are great! I've had 'em for 3 years and they still work great.

I love Skullcandy, and need to get some new ones. The closeout store down the block from my office gets them sometimes, it's just a matter of waiting for the right ones (the soundproof foldaway kind, with 15 flavors of bass).

I think mine fell apart after awhile. I may have mixed them up with some cheaper ones, but I'm pretty sure they were the skull candy.
I guess it's best to invest in a really good pair, whatever the cost as long as they will last. I'd check amazon as well for customer reviews.

I love them. Only negative like Sandman said is that you will be replacing them constantly. They should replace them for free though if you mail them in.

Please buy a cheaper audiophile headphones over skullcandy, they are cheap and poorly made, someone mentioned theHD200's, they are a very high quality but affordable pair of phones. Sound proof phones also have a lower quality than open sound phones, but that comes down to your listening situation.

They should replace them for free though if you mail them in. This is what I like about SkullCandy - if you bring in the broken ones to a skull candy kiosk they should replace them.

Skullcandy look like they'd be good, but are WAY to expensive for headphones that you can buy in a retain store. The best headphones on the market in my opinion are these: www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR7506-Professional-Diaphragm-Headphone/dp/B000AJIF4E/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311698238&sr=1-1Sure they cost more than even Skullcandy, but if you buy these headphones you'll never have to buy another pair again (unless you want ear buds or something). Seriously you can't break them and the sound quality is phenomenal. I first used them in journalism school and I found them so superior to anything else I used that I had to buy my own. A little fun fact also radio shows like Howard Stern use them and they were even featured in the movie True Romance.

I am currently using Sennheiser headphones (forget the model name, got them from Guitar Center for around 30-40 bucks) and they are great. You can really hear everything in a song, especially the low end that is lost on cheaper headphones I've had. I highly recommend you take a look at what Sennheiser has to offer

Those are the ones that I own. I've had them for about 5 months now. I don't use them a lot because I go through headphones like crazy, so I use these cheap (but loud) earbuds most of the time, which they're annoying as hell because they ALWAYS fall out of my ears. I use the Skullcandy ones on occasion, when I want to "relax" (*cough*), or when I travel to New York City. They're pretty great, although not as loud as I thought they'd be (I usually listen to music on full blast, so my standards might be a bit high).

Not a fan myself, the best pair of headphones I've ever bought was a Phillips headphone I bought for only 7 bucks in 2008. Its 10 now but worth it.
