How did that women know what the warp whistle did? That's the biggest mistake of them all, how in the world did she know secrets about a game that was being played for "the very first time ever"? I mean this was 1989 you couldn't just go on the Internet and look stuff up.

It's no different than liberties all movies take.
How many times have you been watching a sports movie, there's 10 seconds left on the clock, that take 30 seconds to play?
Or when someones shooting a 6 shot revolver and have taken 10 shots without reloading?

You know what I remember most from this movie? The Tom Petty poster advertising his record 'Full Moon Fever'. Seriously. LOVE Tom Petty and that is my favorite record he's ever done.

I have a question
Is there a movie that gets the computer and/or video game stuff right?

I find the Ninja Gaiden "not taken a hit" thing pretty funny just for the fact that he's like 10 seconds into the game, not exactly much of an accomplishment. Funnier still that he DID get hit that early in. This kid is not really all that great at the game, I guess. Which makes me think the movie is not what we think it is. The kid actually sucks but nobody wants to say anything lest they disappoint him.

I seem to recall around this time, Montgomery Ward was still in business. But seriously, folks... They had a contest in the electronics department where anybody who wanted to try played Super Mario Bros. for a certain amount of time (I wanna say 3 minutes, might be more or less) and each store's top three overall scores would get a slot in the National video game playing contest in Chicago for the Summer Consumer Electronics Show - a closed convention with major technology-related products. Mom took us there (because we were 14 and 12) and everybody who participated got a free pass to the SCES, which was a pretty huge deal because it was not open to outsiders/fans/etc., just retailers and developers. So, she figured what the heck and gave it a whirl for the free pass. (It's harder than you think. We'd practice all week, but you get that chance to try it for real and one screw up had you throwing your arms up in disgust. "Man, that sucked! I hit that block wrong!") We never did go to the show, I think there was a scheduling conflict with our softball games. I would have liked to have went.

Biggest mistake : the implication that the Power Glove does anything but look awesome
Unless the " it's so bad" was a statement of quality, not a badass boast!

They showed how to get the whistle in the castle? It took me years to find that thing. You americans get it all so easy. I didn't know it was possible to not know where that was. I didn't know until I stumbled upon it by accident. And that was after I had been playing it for maybe years.
