Does it annoy anyone else that the World titles have the old WWF legacy, but the WWE titles are considered completely new from the post-attitude/brand split era?
I mean the World title is a mess cause sometimes it's WCW lineage, sometimes it's not. the US title is definitely the WCW title. But the Tag titles...
You'd think that with the titles merged back together that the legacy would be restored, but I've noticed that some people only recognize it's old smackdown lineage. I didn't notice until someone (and then many others) said that MNM currently held either the longest or most tag title reigns. that doesn't sound right considering how whored around that title was in the attitude era.

i thought the wwe title had all the old wwf heritage, and world title had all the nwa/wcw heritage, hence why the wwe title is still considered the biggest title.

Yeah, I hear you on that one. Especially ditching the entire WWF/E World Tag Team Championship history for the SmackDown one but I guess you also mentioned the reason why: the lineage was too cluttered from hot potato booking in the Attitude Era. It's a reboot that shifts the focus slightly to the modern era which WWE wants to push as the best era, naturally enough. I don't particularly like it, but I see why it's done.

I feel the same, but what really angers me is the linking of the World Title, to the NWA belt. Its bad enough they made the belt look exactly like the wcw title, but linking it to a title that still exists today, it just confuses all the marks. People still think that because WWE owns the JCP video footage, that Vince owns the NWA.

Strangely they never had this problem with ECW and NWA. The belt was never merged with another title after it folded and was revived and folded again. In fact it sort of split from the WWE title since Van Dam was handed it after winning the WWE title. They were supposed to destroy Cena's belt but Van dam wanted to keep it cause "it spins dude".

WWE renamed the WCW title the World title, but renamed the WWF tag titles the World tag titles and created new WWE titles.

The WWE Championship dates all the way back to Buddy Rogers in 1963.
As far as I'm concerned the World Heavyweight Championship dates back to 2002 when Bischoff awarded the new Championship to Triple H. It is not the same championship as the WCW or NWA Championship.
As for the Tag titles, well that annoys me. When they unified both sets of Tag Titles last year they decided to use the lineage of the WWE Tag Team Championship which only dates back as far as 2002 and have retired the World Tag Team Championship which was the more prestigious championship of the two.

The TNA Title would be more likely to merge with the IC title than the WWE Title.

I don't care what WWE.com says, I think of the titles like this.
WWE Title - Used to be the WWF title. Before that it was the WWWF Title.
World Title - Used to be the WCW title. Before that was the NWA title. My logic for this is based soley on the fact that it looks like the WCW title, and I would rather pretend that the belt lived on past the death of WCW.
