Well, came out to my parents today. All went fairly well.
Was a bit awkward because of the situation surrounding it. Had an argument last night over the blood donation service in the UK refusing to accept the blood of gay people (hoping this isn't considered too political for the board). They accepted some hideously bad 'science' and discriminatory practises purely because it was said by a generally nice organisation, it all got rather heated, and I hadn't spoken to them since that. So I came downstairs this morning after psyching myself up for it all night, and basically said that I was bisexual, and that was why the argument hit me hard, that such progressive, rational people would accept that kind of thing without proper research. Gave them some proper facts and figures on that, and they seem to have accepted the backward nature of it.
As regards the actual coming out, they've been as accepting as I always knew they'd be, so yeah, glad to get it out of the way at last.

Heard there was some big news over in New York. Don't know if any of you heard. No idea what you're talking about. However, I am dancing a celebratory jig for some reason or another. We probably shouldn't discuss this any further, as it has not been cleared by the mods. Skirting the issue is still discouraged. But nonetheless, yay.

I think we all know why we're happy. One has to learn to speak in euphemisms in many of our social circles, anyway. *cough*

I will not let this thread die!
I, for one, think the term "Gay Icon" is thrown around way to lightly.
Here's my list:

And if my list were 10 people he'd make it. And give your mom a hug for me. She sounds great.

*bump*
Haven't posted in these threads for a long time.
A lot of people know I'm bi. I live with a mother who approves of anything to do with the gay community. However, she's trying to convince me I'm straight, when I'm not. I've liked guys and girls since puberty, and had my first sexual experience with a girl.
The other thing I want to talk about, and I'm not too open with this, is my crossdressing.
Now I am not transgender. I do not wish to change my biological gender any time soon, but I've never felt fully female. I've always felt more comfortable in guys clothes, and fellow female crossdressers can be a bit of a turnon. I love to wear mens shirts and ties. While ties are considered by many males to be a symbol of restriction, a lot like skirts for women, I see them as a symbol of my masculinity.
Recently, my mother seems to be becoming more relaxed about my preference for male and masculine clothing. My grandmother's always known about my preferences and has been fine with it for years. They both know I prefer the guys departments in shops (at my size it's often the only clothes that will fit too) and I enjoy wearing mens clothes. I don't think my mother will ever accept it to the extent that my grandmother has, but at least she's begun to accept it as a part of me.

I can't really comment on your liking for crossdressing, but it's call your relatives are coming round to the idea of things
