A man whose whole career was based on catching people with their pants down, got caught with his own pants down.........even Alanis Morrisette thinks that situation is ironic as hell. The media is a very ugly business when you get caught doing something immoral and completely against how you have been suceeding at your career. Just ask Tiki Barber....... Chris Hansen, as far as your credibility goes..............YOU ARE SCREWED!!!!!!!!! I dunno if I'd go that far. What he did was bad, but it wasn't "pedophile" bad. The two situations aren't QUITE equatable. True, but the problem is that the court of public opinion doesn't care about equity in things like these. Even if him committing infidelity is nowhere near the same league as the the targets of To Catch a Predator.

I still don't get how just because something's not as bad as sexually assaulting a child, it's not reprehensible in it's own right. Seriously. Can't we just judge him and move on?

Before anyone says anything, no this is NOT ironic. Yeah, unless he cheated on her with a teenager or something, it's not at all ironic. Morally reprehensible, probably, but not at all "made of iron"* * -

Hansen's job does make this funny. He is a guy that made a career for himself ruining the lives of others by secretly video taping them to expose their personal lives. Now HE was secretly video taped exposing his personal life and subsequently hurting his reputation. Is it the same as trying to have sex with a 13-year old? No, not at all, but wrong (and funny) nonetheless.
It would be like CM Punk being caught at a bar drinking beer. No, he wouldn't be on Jeff Hardy's level in that situation, but he would look like a douchebag, and that's exactly the way Hansen comes off here.
Actions speak louder than words. While ridding the world of pedophiles is a great thing, that doesn't mean you are immune to any type of wrong doing, even if it is not as serious.

No, let's not. not in public anyway. This is a hot button case that can be argued all day long and pretty much has been here since the story was posted. Let's leave it at kinda odd or sorta funny

He secretly video tapes people with the intent on humiliating them on national TV, exposing their personal problems for everyone to see. That is not a justification of pedophilia, if that is what you are suggesting, but it is basically what TCAP is. I know they do other shows like exposing business owners and thiefs, etc. Again, not saying those guys don't deserve to be put in that spot, but that is simply calling a spade a spade. There are ways to bring people to justice without humiliating them at the same time.

Consensual sex with another person who, just so happens, is not your spouse. No where near the same thing as pedophilia. There might be some irony in the big expose, but the infidelity itself is like Osama bin Laden being shot in the head by Charles Manson; there some parallels, but no irony. Then again, sleeping with a teen isn't pedophilia either, people are just too lazy to use correct terms. Not that's its acceptable, but at least get the terms right.

He cheated on his wife. Not a great idea, nor one I condone. It was a bad move. However comparing him to the people that he exposed on TV, is a stretch. It would be one thing if he was catching cheaters in the act, or was cheating on his wife with an underage child. He's not though.

I'm just imagining how his wife confronted him about this. Did she tell him to have a seat over there before confronting him with the evidence of his cheating on her?

If this was any other celebrity (Tiger Woods anyone?) they'd be publicly shamed. But because of a gig he had for a while, it's not okay to say he's wrong for cheating on his wife; just because it's not as bad as being a pedophile?
Hansen is in the wrong here, what he did wasn't as bad as what the people on the show did, but it's still bad. No other way to look at it.

Basically, but I guarantee he's gonna point to "at least I'm not as bad as THESE guys" to drum up sympathy for himself.

I don't think anyone is saying it wasn't wrong that he cheated on his wife. It is, but it's nowhere near as heinous as people wanting to have sex with teenagers.

Have there been people excusing him for cheating on his spouse? Cuz I don't get that at all.

But the thing is, one doesn't have anything to DO with the other. The fact that there are people out there that want to have sex with teenagers has no bearing on Chris Hansen being a gigantic douche for cheating on his wife. So using that to excuse his behavior or say "Well, it wasn't as bad as...." rings hollow to me.
