Amazing performance by Jones, he's the next major star for the sport, and will make millions.
He's also medically suspended due to a possible broken right hand, but that shouldn't mean anything, he won't fight for a few months anyway.
Rashad Evans has left the Jackson camp, he's pissed that all this has worked against him... and he'll probably lose.

Jones is gonna slaughter Rashad. It's gonna be bowling shoe ugly.
Also, I'd just like to mention I nailed all 5 Main Card fights. Not that I'm bragging or anything :-P

As happy as I am for "Bones" Jones, the main thing on my mind after the fights last night was this: Poor, poor Mirko Cro Cop.

I still cant get over how awesome this is, people where calling him cocky and arrogant going into the fight and he just proved that all it was was confidence. And he sure as hell backed it up. A really great fight and I enjoyed the fact that it went two rounds instead of one as it truely showed what Jones is capable of.
I also loved how intense it was once Rashad got into the cage, it looked like Bones wasnt happy at all that his first fight is against Rashad. It should be really interesting to see where it goes from here up until the fight with them to (which I have no doubt Jones will win).
Great card, great PPV. Jon 'Bones' Jones = the man

Jon 'Bones' Jones = the man It went three rounds, I think. Just saying. Aside from that little nit-pick, I agree with you 100% on this post. While I have always more than appreciated Shogun Rua as a fighter and a person, I was definitely rooting for Jon Jones in this fight. I have been hoping and praying that he'd be the one to light a fire in the Light Heavyweight division ever since the first time I saw him fight. Hopefully, with last night's superb showing, that will finally come to fruition. That said, I definitely think Rashad Evans, as much as I loathe him nowadays, stands a really good chance of stomping all over my hopes for Bones Jones. Looks like I'm in the minority on this, as Jones seems to already be a heavy favorite, but I do think it's feasible that Evans catches him off guard and walk away with the belt once again... ... but I sure hope not.

Yeah typo there, cheers for calling me on it. The first time I saw Jones was when I got the UFC 100 DVD (my first in both UFC/MMA) and out of all the prelims on that card he was the one that stood out to me the most. Been a fan of his since. The more I think about it the more I also appreicate and respect Shogun as well after that fight. I mean Jones was throwing stiff shots every second of each of those round and yet Shogun just took it and survived as long as humanly possible. To think there are two good fight cards coming up after this as well in 129, which should be crazy (GSP!) and a stacked 130 card.

Wow that video for 129 is insane, got me even more pumped. Machida Couture will be a very interesting fight too.
I don't see anybody at LHW giving him problems, maybe Evans has the best shot as he knows him well, is pretty fast and has good wrestling, but Jones has crushed everybody so its hard to say. We still havn't seen him get rocked, who knows what could happen if Evans catches him. But still, the reach is so big that its hard for anybody to get inside to hit him, and if they do and he gets a decent grip, thats a wrap.

There's definitely going to be some intrigue for the Evans/Jones fight.
1. Evans will know Jones better than anyone else Jones has ever fought. The two have trained together for quite some time and Jones was even playing the part of Rua during Evans' training before Evans injured himself.
2. This will be Rashad's first fight in a year or so and it will the first time in quite some time that he won't have Greg Jackson's camp backing him.

A few observations...
- Jon Jones isn't the future of MMA. He's the present. If you're fighting at 205 in the UFC, you probably won't be holding the belt for a long time.
- Rashad Evans won't beat Jones. Unless Jones breaks his hand doing his cartwheel as he enters the cage.
- Of all the current guys at 205, I think Lyoto Machida has the best chance at beating Jones, but I would still take Jones in a wager.
- I'd rather see Spider fight Jones than GSP, but that won't happen.
- Cro Cop is done.
- I'm interested in Faber vs. Cruz for the Bantamweight belt.
- If Pettis loses to Guida in June, Jim Miller should get the winner of Maynard-Edgar.
- Seeing UFC promote the upcoming Strikeforce card was a mindtrip. Particularly with the main event being Nick Diaz and Paul Daley.
- Living in Pacific coast time, UFC prelims start at 5pm out here starting with 129. I'm not sure if that's a good thing yet or not for me.
- The UFC production team is really stepping up with its promotional ads for upcoming PPVs. I loved the Shields-GSP commercial. Almost as good as the GSP-Koscheck ad back in December.

I really wish this wasn't true, because I love Cro Cop, but damn, yeah, probably.

I wanted to see Shogun crush Rashad but it'll be much more amusing to see Johnny Bones do it.

His best days are far behind him. Dana has said that Cro Cop is done, and I'd rather see him ride off into the sunset then end up like Tim Sylvia or Andrei Arlovski.

- If Pettis loses to Guida in June, Jim Miller should get the winner of Maynard-Edgar. I was thinking if Guida wins, it would be Miller/Guida for a shot. But, even as a Guida fan, I would have no problem with Miller getting the first shot even if Guida beats Pettis. Miller has looked VERY good in his last few fights.
