www.mmafighting.com/2011/03/12/zuffa-purchases-strikeforce/Holy shit. Basically, they are going to run as separate brands. Dana still runs UFC, Coker still runs Strikeforce. If a UFC guy's contract runs up, Coker can negotiate to get him into Strikeforce and vice-versa. No super fights or anything like that. Paul Daley, Frank Shamrock, and Josh Barnett will still be employed in Strikeforce. Wow.

This could be very very big news. We will finally get some "dream" fights, but I'm a bit weary in that there will no longer be a second "big" company whre guys who are struggling in UFC can go to work on their craft

That's the thing though. They are still separate brands. No crossover fights or anything. When someone's Strikeforce contract is up, they can choose between Strikeforce or the UFC, and vice versa.

Maybe not immediately, but I think this plants the seeds for super fights occuring in the near future

Oh good. Now they can plan an invasion storyline, but with Dana's ego they'll probably have all the UFC guys squash StrikeForce's crew.

Isn't WEC still owned by Zuffa or connected to UFC?

WEC doesn't exist. All of their talent is now in the UFC, and the UFC absorbed all of their weight classes.

Isn't WEC still owned by Zuffa or connected to UFC? It was, but they decided to merge WEC with UFC and there will be no more WEC events. From what I have heard reported, Spike TV cannot air WEC footage from Versus.

From what I have heard reported, Spike TV cannot air WEC footage from Versus. So ergo, Versus still owns the rights to the WEC footage? I guess that's why I sometimes see WEC Wrekcage, as well as full WEC events on Versus sometimes. What about the UFC events that aired on Versus?

Isn't WEC still owned by Zuffa or connected to UFC? The WEC has been absorbed by the UFC since January 1st. The WEC is dead. This reminds me of when McMahon bought WCW in 2001 (WOW! It's been ten years). You own the no. 2 promotion. And pretty much have a monopoly in MMA. I gotta think Strikeforce will also be absorbed by the UFC in due time. Pride and WEC were originally going to be separate entities if I recall correctly, and, well look how that turned out. Eventually, I have to think the superfights will happen once the Showtime deal is expired or shortly after, but that's just my guess. This is all news to me so I'm taking it in real time just like everyone else.

Now looking forward to the Zuffa Draft. Think of the skits between Vince McMahon Dana White and Ric Flair Herschel Walker

Well, I guess the women's division might be done. Cyborg probably should of signed the WWE Contract she was offered a week ago.

Women will still be able to fight in Strikeforce. I wonder for how long though. The division is weak and despite what Dana says you know he's going to tinker with SF. There needs to be competition (not self made) or it will grow stagnate. Maybe Bellator can step up with their MTV 2 deal but, I'm not holding out hope.

The women's division will be fine. Dana insists they're two separate entities and there will be no cross-promotion (which I call bulls*** on because it's all about promotion...or maybe I'm understanding it wrong). But history has shown us that inevitably Strikeforce will be absorbed like the others before them. So if the UFC added the bantamweight and featherweight divisions, then perhaps a women's 135 division isn't hard to imagine in a couple of years. And Cyborg should just start fighting men. She's too good for the women's division. I bet she can take Faber I'm waiting for the Zuffa to purchase Bellator story to surface in about 6-8 months.

Dana says they'll be run as seperate entities, but he said the same thing about Pride. It benefits his roster most to let Strikeforce finish out their booked shows and then absorb them and all of their fighters.
