Since this topic: officialfan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wrestling&action=display&thread=328985 was a modest success, let's try taking it in the other direction. What are some of the things you DON'T miss about WCW? I can easily think of a few... - The color black. It seems like almost every main-eventer during the height of WCW wore black. The entire nWo sported black. I'm fine with that, but often times the babyface competition also wore black as well. Sting, Luger, Goldberg, Sid, The Giant, Arn Anderson, Bret Hart... they all wore black. There's a ton of other examples. It would have been nice to see guys wear alternate colors at least when facing eachother, as it creates a better visual during a match. Not to mention, the Nitro ring ropes were black, the ring apron was black, the entrance way was mostly black, and the lighting was not always great. Everything seemed so dark and drab compared to the more colorful WWF/E. I don't miss the over-use of black at all. - Jeff Jarrett. I liked JJ in the WWF. I never liked him in WCW and I can never quite explain why. Maybe it was his terrible haircut. Maybe it was the "other guys have done this before" use of his guitar as a weapon. Maybe it was his attempt at being edgy with his catchphrase "slapnuts." Maybe it was just because Russo loved him and Russo is the devil. I don't know, but I don't miss Jeff Jarrett getting pushed over everybody. Sorry, TNA fans. - Gratuitous use of washed-up WWF talent. I'm not even talking about Hogan, Savage, Nash and Hall. I'm talking more along the lines of VK Wallstreet, Rick Rude, Ted Dibiase, Ray Traylor, British Bulldog, Jim Neidhart, and Marty Jannetty. These are all guys who clearly had next to nothing to offer in the ring anymore, and WCW didn't really seem to have a plan for any of them either. Eric Bischoff would sign guys just because he could. All of them just took up precious TV time that could have been used to push their younger talent. Of course, this is point that's been beaten to death over the years. - Scott Hudson and Mark Madden. I wonder what these guys are up to these days anyway... What else don't you miss about WCW?

I don't miss D.J. Ran being all up in "ya area". I don't miss Larry Zbysko's horrible announcing. I don't miss Riki Rachtman.

I was going to say Mean Gene plugging his hotline, but on second thought... I do kind of miss that.
Other things I don't miss:
- Master P & The No Limit Soldiers. Also, the Insane Clown Posse (because they don't even deserve their own bullet point they were so bad)
- Sid destroying the cruiser-weights.
- The Powers That Be
- The "new" WCW logo. Oh god it was terrible.
- Bischoff/Hogan rambling on the mic for at least 15 solid minutes every stinking week.

Everything seemed so dark and drab compared to the more colorful WWF/E. I don't miss the over-use of black at all. WWF/E wasn't that much different, they use red but look at the outfits of most wrestlers today: Black, Black, Black, maybe some shitty decals on top of the black, but it's still black. Gratuitous use of washed-up WWF talent[...]Ted Dibiase How dare you Ted wasn't washed up. Besides he was only working as a manager and it made sense, that he as the million dollar man sponsored the nWo - Scott Hudson and Mark Madden. I wonder what these guys are up to these days anyway... Funny story about Mark Madden: He was the coach of the United States Junior Street Hockey and they won a Gold Medal at the 2006 Championships that were held here in Germany. But yeah, both were really bad. What i don't miss: -Bad PPV Intros. Compared to some of the awesome Intro videos WWF had (examples are either those awesome grunted Intros of Vince or that really great Intro to Wrestlemania X7), WCW looked second rate. Especially the bad CGI Intros they used in the Mid-90s (Halloween Havoc 1995 for example) - Stupid ideas. Like that Monster Truck Sumo Battle were Giant fell from the Arena at Halloween Havoc 1995 (Yeah, i watched the PPV yesterday) or that stupid mud wrestling match from New Blood Rising. - The new WCW Logo. Horrible, ugly, it was even more ugly than the boring WCW Logo WWF created for the Invasion Storyline. - Celebrities as Wrestlers. Dennis Rodman, Jay Leno, Karl Malone and all the others should've never been in a wrestling ring. Most of the time it was just painfull to watch. Also all the musicians they brought in. DJ Ran, Master P, Insane Clown Posse, Kiss, Megadeth, did i forget someone? (It's a wonder they didn't brought N'Sync of the Backstreet Boys into the shows to feud against 3 Count or something) And it was all just a waste of time and money. - Ignoring and kicking out all the great wrestlers they had. If you think about that WCW had guys like Austin, Foley, Jericho, Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero and basically never used them right and never pushed them to the top... - Instead pushing all the old guys. Even though it was nostalgic and fun at first it became horrible soon. Guys like Piper, Savage should've stopped Wrestling somewhere in the mid-90s - Konnan, never could stand that guy with his stupid "ariba la rassa rowdy rowdy" bullshit catchphrase, his horrible rap video that ran on every Nitro episode in 2000 (or was it 1999?) and the boring matches he had. - Beefcake and his millions of gimmicks and they all were stupid.

Kevin Sullivan booking. Russo is horrible But Kevin Sullivan is plain boring and outdated.
Too many unused wrestlers dragging a company down and making them go extinct. As much as I feel for the WWE guys yesterday who lost their job, I'm glad the WWE isn't foolish enough to keep people employed they don't need. That can cause a wrestling company to go out of business. and it did.
Larry Z being cocky and acting like everyone loved him. and standing up to get cheap pops.
WCW era propaganda. the WWE gets on my nerves now with all their longest running episodic, universe, stand up for this and that talk, but Schiavone and Bischoff used to really try to bury the WWF by all their outrageous claims about WCW being greater than oxygen. It could really turn you off the product.
Vince Russo having a bigger budget and spotlight to do his garbage t.v. on. He's a little humbled and toned down since his failures and being in the obscurity of TNA. Same with Bischoff.
Mark Madden's fat jaws flapping all the time and trashing the product on the air. They seriously must have not cared towards the end in order to let him on the air. If people think Michael Cole is bad they never heard Mark Madden. And it was real too, and had no benefit at all. No one found it entertaining.
How obvious it became that they weren't 'hip' and couldn't keep up with the image WWF was putting out after the debut of THUNDER. As 'cool' as WCW/NWO had been for that couple years, as soon as that show debuted and the WWF started making a comeback, it was apparent that the WWF had the creative edge and WCW spent the next 3 years trying to figure out something that worked. They never were able to nail it, again. I don't miss seeing a company struggle like that. Which is why it's hard to watch TNA for most fans of the WCW era. Seeing a wrestling company fail is torture.

- Madden's not so clever pot jokes during Kronik matches
- M.I. Smooth; seriously what were they thinking? At a time they needed guys that could get over with the wwf audience and steal those viewers MI Smooth gets pushed and he was like a gimick lost in time. If he'd come along in 1992 he's have been fine
- Management vs the top babyface angles. Sweet jesus was that over done. After the sucess of Steve Austin and McMahon everybody wanted thier own angle like that and none of them worked
- The Harris brothers. I respect Ron and Don and they are legit tough but they didn't get over at all in WWF why pay them $150K to not get over in wcw?
- Russo promos; he could get heel heat yes but he was a force for change on Nitro and Thunder. Channel changing that is

WOW! They paid them that much?!?!? to do barely anything?!?!? and I can't even remember a match or a halfway decent angle they were involved in
standing behind an invisible Russo for a couple of NITROS in 1999 is worth that much...
unbelievable

Celebrity angles and matches with the likes of Rodman, Carl Malone, and Jay Leno. Oh, and I almost forgot David Arquette!
The worked shoot format of Russo's later days with the company.
Mark Madden.
And to the OP, I know Scott Hudson is the "WWE correspondent" for the Monday Night Mayhem podcast, and I think he may do some indy stuff in Georgia still, too.

The commentating (not including Heenan). I've been watching old Nitros with my boyfriend, and we have regular choruses of "SHUT UP LARRY!". They shit on most wrestlers, don't help put anything over, talk about nothing but the nWo's latest tricks when there were awesome matches happening right in front of them. Say what you like about Cole, but by comparison, he's wonderful.
Not running with things that got guys over. E.g. Jericho/Goldberg, West Texas Rednecks
Fingerpokes of Doom. The first one wasn't even that bad I felt. But I was live for the Havoc 99 one and swiftly went from excitement at my first live show to pissed off at wasting money on such nonsense.

It's been mentioned but I have to restate, I HATED how they would just ignore whatever match was happening at the time to talk about the nWo. Here's an example...
*Jericho and Malenko are having a CW title match.* Tenay: Excellent snapmare by Jericho, he's really working the head tonight. Shivaone: Speaking of "working the head," the Ultimate Warrior sure is doing a number on Hollywood Hogan tonight, mentally.
Shut up and call the match in front of you, assclown.
