Even though the WWE books arenas months in advance, this is the second time in a row that the WWE was booked in the hometown of the Superbowl winning team.
Last year's schedule after the Superbowl was Raw Lafayette, LA - Smackdown New Orleans Once the Saints won the Superbowl, Smackdown was moved to Baton Rouge
WWE is not moving Smackdown tonight in lieu of the celebration.

I think last year's was due to the fact the Saints wanted the arena SmackDown was meant to be at as part of their celebrations. The Packers didn't need Green Bay's arena this year.

No, the New Orleans Arena was not used for the celebration, but the whole downtown area was gridlocked for the celebration. There would have been no possible way for people to get to the arena.

I live in Louisiana, and the Saints winning the Superbowl was a life changing experience down here. While I am sure the people of Green Bay cherish their Superbowl win, I don't think the victory has as much emotional attachment to where to streets will be gridlocked all night long. To us, it was a major milestone in Louisiana history. Plus, it was closure for Hurricane Katrina.

So what we've learned from this is:
Find out where RAW is booked for the night after the Super Bowl and make an early bet on the closest NFL team to that arena to win. =P

Tough few years for NO. Anyone else think it was silly for McMahon to say that WrestleMania was more important than the Super Bowl to the home market of the new champions?

It obviously means a hell of a lot to millions of people and I can only imagine how elated New Orleans was after the win.

Fits within the Mr. McMahon's character's delusions of grandeur. I mean, there's no way Vince could believe outside of kayfabe that Wrestlemania, while very big, comes anywhere close to being the event the Super Bowl is.

Well if Wrestlemania was as big or bigger, it wouldn't be on PPV. It would be on a broadcast network commanding the kind of ad revenues the Super Bowl gets. I'm willing to bet FOX made more money selling Super Bowl ads this year than WWE and UFC's PPV revenue combined.

You have to take into account the history of our football team and the history of Louisiana. I'm not being rude. I've heard this since the Super Bowl, and it makes no freaking sense whatsoever. In fact, anyone who lives in the areas affected by Katrina should find this as a huge insult. A Super Bowl win will not bring back anybody who lost their life. I know if I lost a family member or friend, I'd be pretty pissed off that people claim a football game makes everything else OK.

Maybe is has to do with the fact that a city that had to deal with the worst natural disaster in US History and the bumbling shenanigans of FEMA afterwards could finally, for one night, put Katrina behind them and celebrate and be happy? No one said that a football game made everything ok...but it sure as hell made the recovery process for the city a lot faster. Especially from all the income it brought in due to the Saints being the champs. I'm sure that extra income for the residents of NO didn't hurt either with the rebuilding. Then again, maybe you should go tell the residents of New Orleans that they're all idiots for celebrating their team winning and using it as part of the healing process. Good luck with that. Let me know how it goes.

Back on topic, I'm willing to bet that Jerry Jones is reading this thread...RIGHT NOW...and is on the phone with Vince McMahon trying to book him for Cowboys Stadium next year...
