Oh, I had no clue that there was a Monday Night Wars DVD. I will look into that, thanks.

So... does Wal-Mart sell PPV DVDs anymore? I usually get the there because they have the lowest prices, but they haven't had any since Summerslam and now I'm a few shows behind.

I was at Walmart yesterday and came across a bundle of the HIAC Anthology and HIAC 09 PPV. I forget how much it was up for, but I am skeptical about getting that because I heard that the HIAC PPV from last year was not great and really, when it regards the HIAC Anthology, I have some of the PPV DVDs with a few on there, but then there are the matches during the time when the letter F was still in the initials. I just get annoyed by the blurring. If it was blacked out, then I wouldn't be as annoyed. I saw it too and think it went for $39.95 The only HIAC match I havent seen excluding the ppv is the Armageddon and I just couldnt justify paying to get the whole collection since I already have or seen the others already.

So if anybody wants something collectable, pick up those sets if you find them. Such set of TLC 09 and Ladder Match exists? If I see that, I'll probably get that and maybe the HIAC set. I guess it is inevitable that WWE might put out a set with Elimination Chamber (The PPV I mean) and Satan's Prison: The Elimination Chamber Anthology.

WTF! When I found them, one was 19.95, and the other was 22.95.

Anyone kind of agitated at Night of Champions and TLC not being released on Blu-ray? I'm fine with anything before Summerslam not being released aside from the Rumble and Mania, but that's two gaping holes in the middle of a pretty linear year of releases on the format.
I just hope we get all events in 2011 in HD. I don't want nitpicky releases if they get mostly all of them put out.

From what I understand, every PPV next year will be released in either Blu/DVD combo, or DVD. I'm not sure about the special sets like the Million Dollar Man DVD, but I hope those start getting Blu releases as well. And I don't get why they started out of the Blu (heh) with the PPV's on Blu Ray, especially with Hell in a Cell. But at least starting in January you'll be able to buy them everywhere as soon as they are released. That was a really dumb move on WWE's part considering they are trying to get a new format over.

Yeah they still do, the ones around here don't get very many copies in though. Maybe 20 at most, so if you want one, better get there release day.

I'm so glad that mess with Blu-ray Best Buy exclusivity is over. It really did lead to some ridiculous things, like HIAC and Bragging Rights coming out in stores without any indication of it at all. I hated looking like a jerk to employees when I said stuff like "Oh it's out, it's just in the back or something, it's coming out unannounced."
I guess I'm fortunate that they started releasing them monthly at HIAC, as I was at that PPV and can be seen on the HD version, but no go on the DVD one. Pretty cool! I really love how they put the Raw before the event complete.

All PPV events on Blu-ray have the Raw before on there. They used to put the Raw and Smackdown, but that stopped at Summerslam.

I did just check on Amazon and The Story of Wrestlemania is up for pre-order on Blu. So maybe it looks like SOME of the special sets will get BD treatments. I know Best of Raw 2010 is gonna be on Blu Ray as well.

Good news about the Mania set. I'm completely fine with like, career documentaries staying DVD only because the bulk of the footage would be shot on tape and not really add much to it aside from the recently-recorded documentary footage. Upscaling it is fine with me.
The Mania thing is probably really comprehensive and contains, I'm sure, a lot of new footage that was shot with HD cameras. I'm really looking forward to that one and the DiBiase set for 2011 the most.
However, if it's something that is mostly-to-all HD-based, I really want a Blu release for it. Best of Raw 2010 has every reason to be high definition and I'm glad for that.

Pretty Sure those are Blu Ray exclusives considering if they put them with the standard PPV DVD's they'd all be 2 disc sets. And that is something WWE more than anyone else needs to take full advantage of. The storage capacity on Blu's. They could easilly make HUGE sets thats fans would eat up in droves. EDIT: I feel like an idiot, I thought Diesel asked if the Raw's before PPV's came with the DVD's lol.

Could they really do a lot with Blu-rays in terms of disc capacity to content? I know audio takes up a lot of space, and aren't the maximum sizes of discs only around 50GB? I don't know how much a typical WWE event takes up for in space, but they might not use the larger-capacity discs and rather go for one of the 25GB ones, if that is the case.

Even with only 25 gigs, thats a TON of space to use. I'm guessing WWE only use single layerd DVD's now, and thats only 4 gigs. With older stuff, they could remaster it somewhat I guess, and then just have a crapload of space to fill. I'd say with a single layer Blu, the Wrestlemania Anthology that exists now could have been done on 5 discs tops. Dual Layered? Hell maybe just 2.

Collection time! Here is mine so far. Its not huge, but its not small either. toyfaremarkwwe.dvdaf.com/ownedAs you can see, I'm a bit picky about what I get EDIT: I have bought and paid for Survivor Series 2010, it hasn't shipped yet of course, and the site didn't have the Blu listed so I had to pick DVD for now.

I'll probably catalog my collection some day, in the meantime I'll post up a picture of what I got here in a few days. Probably after Christmas-ish.

For the record, WWE uses dual-layered DVDs, mainly because a 3 hour PPV on a 2 hour (single layer) disc would look...well, less than stellar. Same deal for Blu-ray. The average high-def PPV takes up around 20 gigs of space, and the usual "bonus" Raw around 10 or 11, so there's no way that'd fit on a single layer, 25GB disc. And the only reason they can fit a combined 5 hours of content on a dual-layered Blu-ray is due to the broadcast resolution being 1080i, which takes up considerably less space than full 1080p.

My brother bought me "Wrestling's Highest Flyers" for Christmas. We exchanged gifts last night at our monthly WWE PPV get-together.
Starting watching some of it today and I'm pleased.
