What is holding him back? He doesn't have any major injuries. He apparently still practices in the ring at his home. He's not old. He's still in great shape!
The focus of the Miz-Cena rivalry has been on Rock and Cena. Cena and Rock throwing verbal jabs at eachother. Rock is pissed at Cena and Cena is all but telling The Rock to bring it. The story and the intrigue is there... and yet Rock just wants to host? There HAS to be something more!
Why do you think The Rock doesn't want to wrestle?

I would imagine that one bad landing on a bump could mean that production of a movie is held up for months or it could lead him to miss out on a movie opportunity. It could cost him a lot of money and also could cost the studios.

I'd imagine, in a perfect world, he wants the actual wrestling match to be against Miz and Cena.
Granted, again, in a perfect world. Then again maybe he just doesn't want to get people's hopes up more? Already people on this very board are pissy cause he's not flying out to every show despite his official title being "Wrestlemania Host".

He's probably not even allowed to. He belongs to Hollywood now. Seriously. It's like he thinks wrestling will hurt his cred in Hollywood. He's scared that if he faces Cena at Wrestlemania he won't get to be in Tooth Fairy 2.

Exactly, there's probably something in his contract with whichever studio he's signed with, that says he can't wrestle. Just like active NFL players can't do a damn thing. And why the only thing Shaq could do was knock Big Show out of the ring, if Shaq could have done more you know they wouldn't have hesitated to take advantage.

I believe he stated he's done everything he wants to do in WWE.
I for one am glad he stopped. I don't want him to end up like Hogan or Flair.

Nobody is talking about wrestling until he is 60 years old. People are just asking for one match against Cena.

I've always assumed it was advice from his agents/PR people. The guy spent years trying to identify himself as an actor without the pro-wrestler part attached. The stigma was on him for awhile, but as the years went on, it felt like he made it without having to rely on being a former pro-wrestler. Now, him coming back is more of a nostalgia thing. He can make the appearances without competing, and it doesn't make him look like he "went back to" wrestling. He's now a special attraction. If he steps in the ring again to wrestle, it might cause the mainstream public to look at him a different way, which could affect his acting career (save the toothfairy jokes). I don't think it would be a big deal, but there may be enough people in his ear to talk him out of it should he consider. I'd like to think he'd have the one-off match just to say he did it and to honor his heritage in one final swing. But that's up to the man himself. The great thing about The Rock is that he doesn't look remotely washed up or even past his prime. The guy looks like a million bucks, perhaps even BETTER than while he was a regular guy. He has a lot of things working in his favor that most former wrestlers lack if he chose to do it.

Honestly, why should he wrestle? He has nothing to gain from it really and what if, on the off chance, he gets severely injured? I love having The Rock back but if I were in his position, I wouldn't wrestle either. He has a different career to think about and no one's going to hire a man in a wheelchair to be an action star (even though Wheels of Justice could be an excellent film)

Does the Great One really need to wrestle again? Just by being part of the E again has generated a lot of buzz and I'm sure buy rates are going to be up with Him just being the "guest host" at Wrestlemania.

His wrestling days are behind him. He he's been done for 7 years. Why come back now? His ability has to have deteriorated over time. I doubt he's in ring shape and he'd have a TON of rust. Also, with a seady stream of movies, why risk injury that would cause production to halt?

The aforementioned reasons are the obvious ones, studios are going to lose a lot of money which is going to be a problem for him if he were to get injured.
I don't think he worries that wrestling is going to hurt his career; most of his fans come from his tenure as The Rock, and if not for wrestling he wouldn't have a career.
There's also insurance purposes to bear in mind: he's worth a lot more now that he's a movie star, so he's going to be expensive to insure.

He got injured while filming the Game Plan. So no wrestling matches and no epic action fight scenes.

He's probably not even allowed to. He belongs to Hollywood now. Worse,I think he belongs to Disney. especially if he's insured by them. there's no way he can wrestle.

He's probably not even allowed to. He belongs to Hollywood now. Worse,I think he belongs to Disney. He doesn't belong to anybody. It's simply that he would be making big risk to his movie career by wrestling. It could cost him millions.
