Remember this match? I remember marking out when Vickie announced it and I was so pumped. It was just so surreal to see a gimmick tag wrestler being taken so seriously against a main eventer (and the world champion no less!) Reminded me of when Eugene fought Benoit for the world title.
I also like how Festus didn't tap out. I wonder how far Gallows would have went as Festus.

Oh God Festus had one of the the most aggravatingly catchiest entrance themes ever.
But yeah, I was surprised at how much offense the guy got in against 'Taker. I believe he could've gone even farther as Luke Gallows if Creative hadn't gone all 'Wait a second, we don't give a shit about this guy' mode on him.

It was a good match and made me think that they might've pushed Festus;so much for that.

What's kinda disturbing about the whole transformation into Luke Gallows is that makes Jessie sort of a major heel.

I still think Luke Gallows is going to be a star in the business. He needs to take the A-Train/Giant Bernard route, and go to Japan for some extra ring work.

I also like how Festus didn't tap out. I wonder how far Gallows would have went as Festus. No offense, but I can't stand when people make statements like this. Not just you, I've seen other people on here do it and it makes me wanna rant. Asking "I wonder how far this person would've gotten with this gimmick?" They would have gotten ... as far as they did go! If they would've gone any further, they would have! The only time I feel it can be acceptable to ask "I wonder how far this person would have gone" is if its about somebody who died very young. Like, I wonder how much more Eddie could've done. /rant

I knew the minute he held his own against Taker in that main event match, that Jesse and Festus's days were numbered
Tag teams just don't go that high in WWE anymore

In the past WWE has used bodyguard characters very well. If they'd put Punk into a lower midcard feud where he was allowed to win, before Rey(like how they put Harley Race over JYD when he moved to the WWF.) or they'd been booked as a tag team he might have been much more successful

I thought Festus was outstanding in the ring. The gimmick allowed him to show off his explosive offense and agility more, he might be better suited as a babyface because his comes back so well.

I really liked Jesse and Festus. I wish they could have kept them together at least to spare us from ever having to see Slam Master J.

My favorite part of the match came when Jessie rushed into the ring to get Taker off him.

Festus was awesome. During the Dalton Boys tag team, once he started doing the bell gimmick, Festus was literally my favorite wrestler for a while. They really missed an opportunity for him in the royal rumble. Ring the bell every time someone comes out, and watch festus stand there with his mouth open for 2 minutes.
While he was Luke Gallows, I held out hope that he'd "get back on the drugs" and become festus again. Becoming straight edge just ruined his character for me.

EDIT: Also, I feel like I'm strangely in the minority here when I say that I like Gallows better than Festus. A lot better. A LOT better.

Festus was a dead-end gimmick. He needed to become Luke Gallows if he was going to ever get anywhere. Unfortunately WWE screwed that up pretty badly via having him job to everything that moves with no rhyme or reason.

I think he'll be back at some point...in whatever character. He's still very young after all, though you wouldn't think so looking at him.

I just don't get why they straight up fired Gallows, he could have spent more time in FCW and is far better than well... Buck Dixon.
