Backstage News on Triple H & Undertaker's Current Angle Date Added: February 25, 2011 Story By: Marc Middleton Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
- Triple H and The Undertaker are the ones putting together their current program for WrestleMania 27, with minimal input from WWE creative.
Taker was originally scheduled to face Wade Barrett and Triple H was set to face Sheamus at WrestleMania but the two got together and realized that WrestleMania 27 had no special match. As WWE's two most power political forces, they felt they could take control of their own angle without much in the way of outside influence.
Shawn Michaels is still expected to be introduced into the storyline and have a role at WrestleMania, possibly as a referee or an enforcer. The idea behind the storyline is that Triple H is going at Taker for revenge after Taker ended his best friend's career.
-----------
I like how they saw WM and said "this sucks, screw Barrett and Sheamus" . I have high hopes though. Like Lawler/Miz, and most things Jericho, when the older wrestlers take over creative control of their angles, you usually get good stuff.

I'm hoping that we get a Taker vs Barrett and Sheamus vs HHH match after WM considering everything that happened involving the 4 men

I'm so down for this, especially considering they seem to be putting the match together themselves. They're both a couple of the greatest wrestlers of all time, so I see no way that this won't be absolutely brilliant.
Yes, I did just say HHH is one of the best of all time. I truly believe that.

I'm actualy really looking forward to this match the most on the card. Their last WM together was loads of fun. I can only see this one being better.

I just think it's setting itself up for a fall. It won't be bad, but it won't be MotY which is what people have now come to expect from Taker's streak matches.

It makes sense, although not good for Wade or Sheamus this massive match allows matches like Rhodes V Rey to happen.

Maybe if they hadn't completely eviscerated Barrett's heat a match between him and Taker might've been that WM 'special match'.

Maybe if they hadn't completely eviscerated Barrett's heat a match between him and Taker might've been that WM 'special match'. This. And ditto for Sheamus. Those matches weren't going to be special because WWE f***ed their opponents up, not because they naturally lack drawing power.

I'm really not all the excited for that match. In 2006, I would've been all for a rematch but not now

I'm not interested in the match itself but hey, at least it gives Mania some drawing power while guys like Miz are still being built up.

So what happens to Sheamus & Barrett then? I'm not knocking Daniel Bryan and the Big Show (if those feuds even result in matches at Mania). It's just that if they wanted to give Sheamus or Barrett pushes they're not the guys to pair them with.
And don't even start on the possibility of Trips booking himself to break the Undertakers streak.

Maybe after Taker/HHH Sheamus and Barrett come out and attack their respective foe, setting up a tag match and future singles matches?

More evidence this match will not disappoint.

If they are thinking abotu the stuffs They should really think more and better A 5 minute staredown isnt exciting There are few, if any other guys on the roster that can pull off the silent staredown and have the crowd into it. HHH and Taker putting it together will be really good. They are definitely two of the all time greats.

I know I said it before and I'll say again: the silent promo between Undertaker and Triple H got more across in five minutes than most men get across talking on the mic for 10 minutes or more.
