If this is the only way WWE ever recognizes the hardwork of Hardwork Bobby Walker. Was he the jobber charged with sex dungeon claims or the racial discrimination lawsuit jobber?

Hell, I was never expecting any sort of huge tribute, maybe just Arn Anderson and a couple other long time WCW guys getting HOF inductions.
As far as those who are saying there's no money to be made with WCW for Vince and why would Vince give a tribute?
Um. Hmmmmmmm....Atlanta...ten year anniversary of WCW's demise...CHANCE TO ADVERTISE THEIR UPCOMING "BEST OF NITRO" DVD.
No, no money to be made there.

Yeah I definitely don't buy into the "no money to be made" argument either. I truly think that Vince had such hatred/resentment for WCW that in his mind, it makes no sense to honor it. I can understand that thinking but I don't agree with it. Besides which, he did win. If it were me, I would have made WCW seem like the biggest deal (which it was) just to make my victory seem even sweeter.

The value of WCW is gone besides the tape library. Maybe if they inducted Goldberg or Sting but other then that who cares. Bingo, and you can't just make them show up. I think they botched not putting Arn in, but really, if you can't get those guys to show up, what are you going to do?

It never made sense to me when the rumors started and it doesn't make sense now.
There's no reason to do it. Is there money to be made? Probably not. It would bring in a few fans, as evidenced by this thread, but not enough to make it worth while.
If you want a WCW tribute you need Flair, Sting, Goldberg, Luger, Road Warriors (Animal, because Hawk can't), DDP, Steiners, and face it, Hogan.....the list could go. Not all, necessarily...but these are just a few of the names not under contract, as I, as someone who never even really followed WCW, associate with them.

WCW was dumb enough to book Slamboree with a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, followed by seeing those old codgers in the ring battle it out.
I can understand giving them a plaque and some respect for what you've done. But even I could barely stay awake watching a near 60 year old Dory Funk Jr. trade holds with an even older Nick Bockwinkel for "15 minutes". They were well past their prime and honestly nobody wanted to see it.
I'd be sitting there like Russell Ziskey watching John Winger get down to do push-ups: "I never heard bones creak like that."

It never made sense to me when the rumors started and it doesn't make sense now. It did make sense to me. There are, IMO, just enough big stars from WCW's era to make a WCW-themed HOF worthwhile -- If they managed to sign all of them. My biggest issue is that, once again, people took a bunch of unfounded internet/dirtsheet rumors and treated them as gospel, then got disappointed when <shock, horror!> the rumors were shown to be completely unfounded. The same thing could be said of 90% of the people they induct now, though. Do you really think that most of today's fans care or even know who "Bullet" Bob Armstrong even is? Heck, if you brought up the name Abdullah the Butcher to most casual fans, I'm sure you'll get more than a few uniterested shrugs and puzzled looks. I'd be willing to bet that a HOF headlined by Sting, Goldberg, the Road Warriors, and Lex Luger will bring in just as many if not more fans than a HOF headlined by Shawn Michaels and a bunch of guys who don't matter. {Spoiler}Road Warriors are supposed to be announced for HOF this Monday. Flair is already in, so you don't really *need* him, though one could easily make the case that he should be the one inducting Sting. Hogan's already in. At best, one could make the case that he could be the one to induct the Outsiders, but HHH could also make that induction as well. Bischoff is another one that would be an auto-include, since he was pretty much the driving force behind the Monday Night Wars. If Hogan was necessary for *anything*, it would be to induct Bischoff, but Vince could do that himself. The Steiners, DDP, and Luger are the only ones left that I could think are really *necessary* for a proper WCW HOF ceremony. Sure, you could make the case for some others, but none that would really be "necessary".

I figure their nod to WCW is much like how they honored AWA in their Chicago WrestleMania. Or when they gave a bunch of Texas legends HOF Inductions while they were there for WrestleMania 25.
WCW has been regulated to being a mere territory, in the WWE canon. Just like the AWA, just like the NWA, and so on and so forth. And while it may be mean to write, and some people wouldn't acknowledge this right away.... but if WCW was so great and deserved so much, then wouldn't they still be in business today? Vince bought them out after years of WCW trying to put him out of business. Sure, he'll cave in when there's money to be made. But there's a difference between him settling his differences with a past star for a nostalgia run, and him forgetting an entire promotion trying to take him down in the 90's.
There's a reason ECW got a revival in 2005 and WCW didn't. That's the name value, IMO. ECW still had (and continues to have) loyal fans who followed the product and would never miss a show. WCW lost most of their audience to the 2001 equivalent of TNA levels. By the end their buyrates were embarrassing, their highest paid talents would have rather stayed home, and WCW wasn't even a blip on WWF 2001's radar. The only reason to pay homage to WCW would be because they're in Atlanta, and because WCW sort of has a legacy amongst fans. But these days, it's better known as the promotion that collapsed under it's own weight, why glorify that?

It's the perfect place to shill the "Best of Nitro" DVD. Vince would never do a WCW homage just for the sake of it, but there's money to be made in those DVDs. Hell, just have Vince come out and brag about how he's in former WCW country running his biggest show of the year, it's been ten years, yadda yadda yadda. DDP comes out, gives Vince the Diamond Cutter, shills the DVD, done deal.

No Sting. No Flair. No Goldberg.
As the invasion showed, if you're going to do, you're going to need the proper personel to really bring the feeling.

They have more important things to present, like Snooki. ;D

I wish wrestling fans in Atlanta would boycott mania. That's just dumb. Even if everybody who lived in Atlanta boycotted Wrestlemania, the building would still be full of out of towners. Besides, it's not like it was announced that WM was going to be WCW themed, and they changed their minds. This is the same as the Sting rumors. A lot of people were pissed that Sting wasn't signed, but there were never any real indications that he was being brought in. Just because people on the Internet want something to happen, doesn't mean it will, and they have no right to be pissed when it doesn't happen. Dumb.

If WCW fans want a bone, they just have to watch Spike TV on Thursdays.

The same reason there's no national holiday celebrating the legacy of the Confederate States of America. There's a lot of bitter history and to the victor go the spoils of war.

It has nothing to do with DDP, he's just the most obvious choice since he's hosting the "Best of Nitro" DVD set. That and WCW was based out of Atlanta. Eh screw it. I hope they don't do jack. God forbid DDP come out and WWE fans see this old guy that has more charisma than 95% of WWE's new home grown class. (I'm talking the FCW group, not the OVW group that gave us the likes of Cena, Orton and Batista.) God forbid Vince take his WCW and ECW libraries and *gasp* make a profit. Meh. It's all Sting's fault. You should have signed with Vince. Jerk.
