www.pwmania.com/artman/rock-says-hes-open-to-wrestling-again-his-wwe-futureDwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke to Associated Press sports writer Dan Gelston this week about his return to WWE, the build to WrestleMania and beyond. The most newsworthy part of the interview, which you can read at Sports.Yahoo.com in its entirety, is that The Rock is more open to wrestling another match than he’s been in the past several years. “I’ve never said never,” Rock said. “I’m open to it. For years when I was asked that, I kept my emotions very close to my sleeve. “I would say, ‘No, I don’t see myself wrestling a match,’ because I didn’t want to leave that open too much. I wanted to make sure I was concentrating solely on my goals in acting.” Rock thinks he can handle his movie career while still making appearances for WWE, which would include getting back in the ring. “It’s ‘The People’s Era’ that’s getting ready to happen,” he said. “It’s just beginning.” I hope he really does. I hope I hope.

SummerSlam
Cena vs Rock
Come on Rock, make it happen. It would make a fortune.

Diminishing box office returns or something? There's got to be more to it than a sudden change of heart. I have a hard time as taking this dude being genuine about anything he says.

Vince could've forked over a truckload of cash.
Rock could just want to keep his name in the fans' minds.
Rock could be speaking in kayfabe.
Who the hell knows.
I remember reading somewhere that he's got an movie shooting soon, and the insurance companies won't touch him as long as he's an active wrestler, so I'm figuring an in-ring return any time in the near future is doubtful. Sure, they *could* do it at some random B-level PPV between now and his movie, but that would be a monumental waste of a golden opportunity.
I could, however, see him making on-and-off appearances between now and next year, leading to Cena/Rock at WM28.
But again, who the hell knows.

Rock has a surefire hit coming with the fifth Fast and the Furious film coming out. So he's not hurting for money when you consider a lot of his other films have been successful at the box office.

You clearly don't realize the Rock hasn't had any major successful films on his own. Yeah he's making money but he's not a major star by any means. F&F will make a ton of money for Vin Diesel.

Not to mention, he's probably been much wiser than some other wrestlers when it comes to the big dividends from his time in WWE, plus family/HoF money. I don't know, I think this might be legit; sort of that itch that former wrestlers (or really, former anythings) get when they've been away from the ring for years. I'm not saying anything full time or even pay-per-appearance, but that Rock/Cena match could actually end up happening...

As much as I don't believe this, if it is true it's entirely possible he just got an itch to do it again after experiencing being back live and in person after so long.

I think is one, actually. Movies aren't doing too well this year. But as someone alluded to earlier, he probably came back, and felt the "itch" again. It's the "buzz" of the the live crowd... being back made him remember how good it felt. He's still got a couple of years before he's 40. He can wrestle here and there until then, and then REALLY call it quits.

Some people are talking on here like Rock isnt a star by any means in Hollywood and his paydays aren't going to be that big. Maybe he's not A-list but he's still a reasonably big name and growing. The money he makes is Hollywood is significantly more than he would make working the ridiculous WWE schedule. It would be good to see him work from time to time and I really hope hes not just buttering up the audience just to leave us hanging again.

If he does come back I'd rather see him feud with someone like Ziggler or Miz. That'd be fun, I think.

Rock vs. Cena is really the only way to go and it has to happen.

He won't do it. Rock likes to say things to get the fans hopes up based on a whim or something he thinks would make a good quote, then not deliver. He's starting to come across as a real life version of his Hollywood Rock character.

It would be absurd to think he would. If he was to return, it would almost definitely be with a very limited schedule of maybe 2-4 matches a year, tops. And he'd likely get paid more than almost anyone else on WWE's roster, due to being such a huge celebrity.

I would die to see a match between he and ziggler as i consider ziggler the best in ring worker on the roster right now IMO and plus i wanna see Rock tempt vickie with some strudle , only for him to tell her to poontang her ass on outta his ring.

No offense to Summerslam, but a match like Rock vs Cena would kind of be a waste at any event outside of Wrestlemania.

Until the dude actually is in-ring wrestling, it all sounds like lip service.
Which is perfectly fine, I probably wouldn't wrestle anymore either; he doesn't owe anyone that.
