Watching WrestleMania 12 and good ole king says this in the middle of the match and through me for a loop, I could swear it was Cole who started that saying, not to mention was Shawn Michaels Vintage at this point?
P.S. Best match ever.

HBK was in the WWE for like 8 years at that point, so yeah, vintage it is!

I thought that match was generally very boring until the last 6 or 7 minutes. The first 50 minutes were nothing to write home about. The match gained some intensity before the hour bell rang. The match finally became interesting when Gorilla threw in the "overtime" swerve.

That match is forever BS because they never discussed overtime prior to the end of the match. All the hype for it, and then they had to go and start screwing Bret. Though, fwiw, it was well worth paying the $40 to see the card live. Good times.

I think the match gets so much credit because it was one of the first mainstream ironman matches. Honestly, I really can't remember a time when matches would go for an hour on the mainstream stage either.
So I think it was more of a spectacle that guys could have pulled that one off. I mean, in today's day and age especially after some of the things we've seen in the ring, the match isn't the greatest. But at the very least it's respectable. Tough to watch on DVD now without falling asleep halfway through.
But I'm rambling... I very clearly remember the VINTAGE SHAWN MICHAELS line and the first thing I thought of was, hmm Jerry probably trained Cole. LOL
