Not one thread? The King is dead. Long live the Celtic Warrior and NEW United States Champion! Side note: I got a kick out of Sheamus' reaction when Justin Roberts announced the "lose and he'll quit" stipulation. P.S. Watch him lose it at 'Mania.

Sheamus got a meaningless midcard title that hadn't been defended on tv in many weeks. Yay. What a victory. Too bad he's going to lose to DBD at Mania. Is it just me or is Sheamus's career stuck in reverse? He was a two time world champ, then king of the ring, and now he is US champ? That makes no sense. Sheamus is useless anyways imo but I thought they were going to make him into something and I was just going to have to learn to like it. Now I feel like I was right all along. I enjoyed King Sheamus though, I wish he would have stuck with his regal attitude.

I hope he loses it to Mark Henry or Evan Bourne.

Well, okay. Who did DBD piss off? He lost one match. Not everything that happens has to have a hidden meaning.

A foreign heel as US champion can always be a fun, straightforward angle. It's unquestionably a depush, but it puts Sheamus in a position on the card where he could be putting on very good matches with a lot of promising babyfaces, and that's a good thing.
(Or he could just keep jobbing to Orton every week, with the US belt performing the same function that the KotR win did before it, as an extra prop to make him seem marginally more credible while constantly losing. Which would be very stupid, but which isn't at all unlikely.)
I am wondering who he's fighting at 'Mania. It feels awfully anticlimactic to have him and Bryan going into Wrestlemania having a rematch of a 'bout from three weeks earlier that already got a decent amount of time and ended with a clean finish. An extra gimmick or stipulation might help, but I can't think of one that would play to both mens' strengths.
At this stage, my hope would be for a unification match with Kofi over the IC belt.

I just hope its one of those 'move on to bigger and better things' like when Miz lost the title.

I'm glad he won.
I was worried that Dunn was gonna job Sheamus out until future-endeavourment. Still, what exactly did the big losing streak achieve anyway? Seems completely pointless to me.

Maybe WWE is thinking long term on that, and will tie it into the next KOTR, and play on the whole cursed thing.

It's sad that the midcard titles are such crap that one can be on a big losing streak, win one of the titles, and have WINNING THE TITLE be the sign of a depush.

Ladder match Bryan is booked as primarily a technical, mat-based grappler, and Sheamus is a big brawler. Given that ladder matches have become largely associated with crazy spotfests, this one might be rather tame by modern standards. I've another idea... Sheamus declares that he's going to redeem himself by challenging everyone who's gotten a "fluke" win over him in the last several months. This leads to a Wrestlemania match of Sheamus vs. Bryan vs. Henry vs. Bourne vs. Santino (and possibly vs. Otunga, if WWE wants his almost-but-not-really celebrity name value at Wrestlemania) for the US championship. It gets a lot of guys onto the card, and has the benefit of meaning there was actually a point to the losing streak angle.

'Bought time. I hope both DB and Sheamus get a nice feud out of this.

This could've been done better. Sheamus Brogue Kicks Gail Kim, causing Bryan to go beserk and get DQ'd, leading to a Falls Count Anywhere title match at Wrestlemania, where Raeg!Bryan pummels Sheamus into submission (literally).

Good. I think he can go somewhere with this. Maybe even start a serious angle with Daniel Bryan.

I approve of it, Fella.
I like Sheamus, I like Daniel Bryan.
Bryan needed something to happen to spice up his US Title run.
So losing it and now chasing the belt should be the answer. Will give the belt a bit of meaning instead of Bryan defending it every so often against random midcarders with no real backstory.

BTW, what happened to Gail Kim last night, she came out with Bryan, and was at ringside for a while, then they went to commercial and she disappeared. Did she fall into the mystery spot like Bret Hart?
