With WrestleMania 'round the corner, there's been a recurring question in regards to the card. The question isn't kayfabe of sorts, like "who has a better chance" or "who's gonna beat the streak", but rather questions regarding whether the PPV is even worth watching, let alone buying. In their own desperation, the WWE has been stocking the match with legends in hopes of saving buyrates: the Rock is set to host, Stratus is in action, Austin is set to referee, and Jimmy Hart is projected to be in Lawler's corner. However they wouldn't even be in this position if they had pushed their own talent; you know, focusing on the people who will be in the matches and in the company long after WrestleMania (strange, I know).
With that said, I've been mulling over a modified WrestleMania card; however, unlike most fantasy cards made months before the Royal Rumble (or even weeks after the previous WrestleMania), mine is sort-of "what could've been," since don't intend to fully modify the card, meaning that the card will still have Alberto in the main event, Lawler vs Cole, etcetera.
I don't plan on changing the entire card, since there's nothing wrong with the entire card: Cole vs Lawler has been booked flawlessly, and Mysterio/Rhodes is definitely a matchup worth watching. As far as Orton/Punk and Cena/Miz, the main problem has been the build-up: one has seen Orton demolishing the New Nexus with Punk and his acolytes putting up a very weak offense. As for the main event, we've pretty much been treated to the story of "Miz versus Cena" playing out as "Rock versus Cena, featuring Miz". Seriously, if this is your main event, then the people in said main event should be taking each other seriously; because if they don't, why should we as the audience?
Now, the revisions:
Just something I've been brainstorming for a minute. Thoughts?

Now, the revisions:
- Big Show vs Jackson: They've been building up to the big guys going head to head, why make it a four-on-four all of a sudden? Better yet, the stipulation would bar the Corre from ringside, forcing Jackson to face the Big Show one-on-one.
- Gail Kim(c) vs Natalya: Rather than the out of nowhere placing the title on Eve, I'd have Gail as the mystery fourth opponent. Why? Because her boyfriend is the United States champion. Basically, she barters his title for a title shot, and is successful. Her reasoning is so that she can go to WrestleMania in a title match, something she hasn't done in all her time with the company. Play up the fact that since coming to the company in 2004, she has never been in a major match at WrestleMania. Naturally, Natalya gives it to her, in the form of a rematch for her title at the PPV. This also leads to-
- Bryan(c) vs mystery opponent: The only person who knows about who Bryan will face is the Anonymous General Manager. This works, as the AGM isn't directly aligned in any direction and can make face or heel-type decisions. His opponent could be John Morrison, as a credit to his amazing performances against Miz, in the Rumble, and in the Chamber. It could be the returning Dolph Ziggler, with him making his return to the company and his debut on the RAW roster at WrestleMania. The possibilities would be endless, and the thought of Bryan and those watching the PPV not knowing who his opponent is would make for a fair amount of suspense.
- HHH vs Sheamus: Rather than hotshotting an angle between HHH and Taker, have him return at the Royal Rumble and eliminate Sheamus, not as a Rumble entrant, but in street clothes. The angle would be Attitude-era style, with no actual matches taking places between the two up to WrestleMania; instead, the two would be fighting with each other any chance they had, rather than waiting for a sanctioned match. As such, the match at WrestleMania is scheduled as a streetfight.
- Wade Barrett vs the Undertaker: Again, a match-up that would make more sense when you consider he was put out partially as a result of his group. From a behind-the-scenes perspecitve, it makes sense too, given the news that his career is looking at its last years, if that long. This could go either way: he wins and brings his streak to nearly a perfect twenty; or he loses, putting over Barrett in the process.
- Alberto Del Rio vs Edge vs Christian(c): This is actually somewhat based on the triple threat match at XX, except with the face (Christian) playing the role of HHH and the heel (Del Rio) playing the role of Benoit. There's no real heat between Edge and Del Rio. There is, however, heat between Edge and Christian and between Del Rio and Christian. Also, this wouldn't be some hot-shotted angle: Christian, instead of Big Show, would replace Ziggler in the Chamber and would go on to win. Edge would enact his rematch clause for WrestleMania, and as a result, Del Rio would basically be looking at the threat of being targeted by both former members of E&C, until Edge makes it clear to Christian that they are not a team, and that his only goal is to take back his World Heavyweight Championship.
Just something I've been brainstorming for a minute. Thoughts?
