Who watch and keep up with pro wrestling.
Here are some of my stories...
When I was younger I started watching Ultimate Warrior and Bret Hart from my cousin.... So I started to get hooked. (Didn't watch much but would say i was a fan)
Then during the attitude era I watched more... And the only guy I knew that watched wrestling was a WCW fan and we would talk about WWE No Mercy and WCW Revenge.... But we weren't really friends. Just talked once or twice
I made friends with a guy who was brothers with a midcarder in WCW..... But he didn't really give a crap about pro wrestling.
During high schol I went to Armageddon by myself and after the event I went to school and some guy saw my JBL shirt and said he didn't like JBL.... Still no friends
Some people I knew were talking about pro wrestling so I chimed in.... They were wondering if Texas Tornado was going to be at Wrestlemania 20.... Not exactly big fans....
Any other sob stories?

I have a grand total of zero non-internet friends who are wrestling fans. The only time I ever had somebody in real life was when I got my old boyfriend into wrestling, and he liked it a lot but his favorite wrestler was Triple H, so the relationship was doomed.
Oh, and my dad was a wrestling fan as a kid in the 50's and 60's, so we've talked about some of the old stuff every once in a while and I've dragged him to a couple of shows but he doesn't really like it at all anymore. Holy run on sentence.

I still have friends who watch. A few of us are gonna get together to watch Wrestlemania. But yeah, most people I know still think its called WWF and that Hulk Hogan is still champion.
By the way, who was the WCW midcarder? I've been watching some old WCW lately, and they had a stupidly huge roster.

I was in high school when wrestling was super popular 1996-2000. The problem was there were a lot of fairweather fans that only got into because it was so popular at school. Everybody was WCW fans, I think I was the only person that still flew the WWF banner, I mean WM 13 was the only PPV I ever bought, and it scared me from buying another PPV until last year. I was also into ECW, which either no one else had heard of, or thought it was a "crappy" wrestling company that wrestled in a bingo hall.
Once the luster wore off, the same people I used to talk wrestling with would make fun of the "fake" sport. It wasn't as cool anymore, so they weren't interested anymore. I only had one friend that was a fan, but after college we didn't talk anymore.
Other than you internet folks I don't know anybody in my life that has watched any wrestling in over 10 years.

I still have friends that watch it. My sister watches it with me sometimes. My best friend watches it. My ex watched it. My second best friend is hugely into it and he's a big reason why I got back into WWE as an adult. We've had Wrestlemania parties which are pretty fun. BBQ & Brews! I have a few other friends who either watch it on occasion or are at least slightly knowledgeable and not disrespectful about wrestling. I know I follow it more than everyone else I know, but it's cool. They're not the ones on wrestling forums. >_> I usually don't say much when I'm watching it with someone else because I don't want to prove how dorky I really am and plus I love hearing other peoples' thoughts or seeing their reactions to what's happening. I now watch NXT by myself though now that it's only on the Internet.

I have a friend who is into wrestling a little bit. Any time a show is coming to town I try to talk a lot about wrestling to him to get him excited, and he eventually decides to go with me, then he gets hooked for a while, then it dies down.

They know what the bonzai drop is for instance

During the Attitude Era most folks at my school watched wrestling so it was cool. We used to have wrestling matches and shit at lunch time. Fun times Now though, I've got just one friend who is into wrestling, we occasionly go halves with PPV costs if it's something we want to watch (Mainly just the big ones, RR, 'Mania etc). Everyone else I know seems to think it's lame

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that you were a fan during the attitude era but you didn't have any friends that watched wrestling. Did you just not have many friends in general, or is it a case of where you live?
I've always had friends that watched wrestling. As a small child, my cousin and all of his friends (which were basically my only friends then) watched. We would play the SNES games together and have matches in the backyard where we assumed the role of a real wrestler.
During the attitude era this pretty much continued, only I had my own friends by then. Almost all of my friends were wrestling fans. I would always throw PPV parties and at least 6 or 7 people would show up. On my birthday my backyard fed would have a "PPV" that lasted all weekend, and it wasn't uncommon to have 10-15 people participating, even my few friends that weren't fans would get in on it.
For the last 5 years or so I've kind of lost most of my wrestling fan friends. My older cousin, who got me into it, only watches on and off now. My other friends that were fans are either out of touch now, or are no longer fans. Thankfully my best friend is still a huge wrestling fan though, so we talk IWC stuff, drink liquor, and play Fire Pro and No Mercy when we hang out. I suppose I'm lucky in that aspect.

My best friend likes it when I just show him clips of awesome stuff that happens or short little matches (usually DB) that I liked or funny things (Punk promos) He's not into it anymore, but he used to. That's as far as my friends and wrestling goes no one else really knows I'm so into it

Funny thing is just a few months ago I was sitting at the bar watching a basketball game and I hear two of the bartenders talking about wrestling. Mind you these are guys I've known for years.
I mentioned it to them and then the guy starts talking about this newz site he goes to and about how they need to push Morrison. It was just funny hearing someone say things like "Yeah they need to push x wrestler" after knowing them for years and not even knowing they watch wrestling.

You guys should move to Georgia. Wrestling is still relatively popular here. I just thought about the fact that every time I start a new job, I end up meeting at least ONE hardcore fan.
There was also the 40 something year old guy that my dad works with that still thinks wrestling is real. He tried to convince me that Ric Flair owns ECW back when it was still a brand...

My best friend is a wrestling fan and posts here. My dad, uncle and brother are friends. A ton of my HS friends are still fans and a lot of my work buddies are fans. I go to ROH shows with friends and family, WWE shows with friends and family. It's all good times, I guess wrestling is more popular in NYC than other places.

Wrestlemania XVI/2000 was a true high point among my friends that watched wrestling. I lived in a suburb of Houston at the time, and we would all get together at my friend's place for the Big 4 PPV's. When they announced the location of that next year's WM, well...imagine a room of about 20 or so people going absolutely apenuts.
It was a good time.
