It was more awkward than bad. It just came across really weird and forced. It wasn't a 10 on the McGillicutty Scale, but it was just...off.

Like I said before, it was better than we usually get from either of them, so I liked it. I could mostly understand R Truth and he didn't have me flailing for the mute button. Morrison still came off like a jerk, but he seemed, I'unno, more smooth? He didn't seem as, "They gave me a script and now I will read it". I actually thought Morrison seemed really on top of his game last night.

spoiled-by-Miz/Jericho/Punk-promos-IWC is spoiled Since when is Miz lumped in with the best promo guys around? I've seen plenty of people say he's was the best on the mic on Raw before Punk got drafted (not saying I think he is). Not so much lately, as many people like to turn on a wrestler once they start getting a big push.

Morrison was terrible as usual, just keep the guy off the mic. R-Truth was just babbling about goodness knows what. We're supposed to believe that these guys can fight for the WWE Title? Come on, give me a break.

Come on, give me a break. The Ultimate Warrior babbled about absolutely everything and he actually was WWE Champion.

I thought once Truth got to his "turn" it was excellent. He was obviously conflicted about hurting his friend...and then ended up realizing it was his friend that pushed the situation. I think it gives depth to Truth...and watching him devolve into this bad guy should be interesting.
But yeah...the beginning with JoMo took forever to get to the point. Very awkward, I thought.

I.. really liked it!
It had continuity, with Morrison and Truth acting as friends given they were a tag team briefly. It had sense character wise. The turn was a shock but made sense given how events had proceeded (Truth was joyful about having a title shot, Morrison goaded him into a match, albeit in a banterish way, won fair and square and Truth freaked out over losing his opportunity)
Yes it does make Morrison look douchy and some of the conversation felt wierd, but i thought it made sense, was well executed and gives both of them a reason to involve themselves in the Cena/Miz feud and give that feud more legs before their next big match. It sets up Morrison v Truth, Cena v Truth and the match will give even more momentum for a Morrison v Miz PPV match down the line. It wasn't perfect, but it worked for what it seemed to be there for.

I think it's because everyone expects some over the top promo everytime a superstar opens their mouth, like Miz or CM Punk. It just came across as two friends having a conversation. Nothing wrong with that. This. Also I really enjoyed it. So did everyone of my friends who I watched it with. The segment, match and the after math was very well put together. All of us were watching at the edge of our seat. New stuff on WWE tv is always appreciated.

Well, at least R-Truth can look forward to his tag-team title shot...oh wait

The most awkward thing since Mark Henry narrating/laughing through the Derrick Bateman perfume ad.

Eh, I liked it. It sounded like they were being allowed to go off the cuff and say their own thing, instead of delivering the Hollywood writers' lines. Maybe it wasn't particularly great, and a bit odd in places, but I was just happy that it came across as being natural. We need more of this, so these guys can get better at it. I'd rather listen to promos that the guys are responsible for themselves than regurgitating the writers' lines, even if they are a little off.

It was very odd, very unexpected, and different from the vast majority of polished promos from WWE that we've been trained to think of as "good". And yes, that includes Miz/Punk/Jericho's work; they all do a great job of bringing a lot of excitement to the same old formula, but that's different than seeing something like this where, for better or worse, the formula is thrown out entirely.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if most of this promo was unscripted; or, hell, if the whole idea was concocted a couple hours at most before the show started; it had a haphazard, off-the-top-of-our-heads feel to it.
I liked it a lot. Maybe that's more because it was new than anything else, but the segment's stuck in my mind a lot more than most of promos on WWE TV these days.

I think this would have been better off as a backstage bit that didn't open Raw. Putting it in front of the crowd as the the thing to start the show just didn't work to me.

I don't think it would have had the same effect. What made the turn so good and realistic was the fact that R-Truth was so excited that he finally got a shot at the title, he had to go out first thing to share it with the WWE Universe. Then when Morrison took that away he snapped.

The promo was random to me. Of course, I'm used to hearing from the usual main event crew in the opening promo segment. My issue was the length of time the whole thing took, especially the post-match beatdown. It felt like it ran a little too long. IMO, R-Truth really shouldn't be on TV for over 20 minutes.

I really enjoyed the segment myself. I haven't been a big fan of R-Truth as of late, but when he came to the ring to start the show and was gloating, giddy like a child at Christmas it was endearing in Truth's own special little way.
I found the character work was really interesting. I started feeling happy for Truth, then Morrison came out and was a bit of an asshole, but at the same time it could be looked at as some razzing between friends(I have experience in harsh jokes between friends). I felt genuinely sympathetic for R-Truth when Morrison went to shake his hand and he couldn't believe the mess he got himself into.
Thought it was pretty cool, I thought Truth and Morrison did their parts well, from beginning to end. My only fear is that next week Morrison is in hype mode for the triple threat match and R-Truth goes on to feud someone else as though none of this ever happened.
