So, just looking at wikipedia, and there have been 13 I quit matches in WWE history. Only 5 have been for the WWE title, and Cena has been in the most, and he's 3-0.
Thats basically his signature gimmick match. And with his slogan being "Never give up" wouldn't you say that down the line that would be the perfect way to retire/turn heel?
I imagine Cena saying "I quit" will either have to be the end of his career or the start of a mega heel run.
Random thread, but I just thought it was wierd he's been in the most in WWE history, and he's one them all, and not quitting is his gimmick basically.
And with the Undertaker and his streak retiring in the next year or so, that THIS could be the new big yearly match to build to. Any other ideas?

Y'know what would've been cool, Cena being forced to reluctantly say "I Quit" in that match against Barrett at Hell in A Cell. Would've made for an interesting dynamic.

Yeah, it's his signature match. A handicap match is surely his signature match?

I Quit is essentially John Cena's Hell in a Cell. At one time, HHH was undefeated, and had beaten Foley (Cactus Jack), Jericho, Nash, and Michaels to hold that title. If/when John Cena loses an I Quit match, it'll probably be for the same reason that HHH lost Hell in a Cell: to put someone over.

Oddly enough I always though of the I Quit match as Foley's signature match.
...Even if he lost both of them that I'm aware of.

If I was a wrestler my catchphrase would be, "never get pinned or made tap out or put through a table or disqualified."
You know you want to wear my shirt.

If they have to have Cena lose one, Austin at Wrestlemania 13 style could work.

If they have to have Cena lose one, Austin at Wrestlemania 13 style could work. That would make sense, as Cena could still go on with 'Never Give Up' as he never would've technically given up.

He'll just get booed more for ripping off an iconic moment.

The comparison would get brought up over and over and over and over again, and the vocal audience will hate him even more because of it.

They already showed that a situation like that can not happen again. Cena locked Batista in the STF in their I Quit match and made Batista pass out, which the commentators said may not have been the best strategy because Batista then was incapable of quitting.

I still remember his win over JBL at JD 05. That match was amazing for two guys with limited skillset. It was a straight up war.

Eh situational rule changes have been done in the past...

Part of me would like to see an angle where Cena is forced to say "I quit" due to his opponent's henchman threatening to attack a (presumably non-wrestler) friend of his.

Part of me would like to see an angle where Cena is forced to say "I quit" due to his opponent's henchman threatening to attack a (presumably non-wrestler) friend of his. They tried that in the video games, then the guy just came back and drove a truck down the ramp while Cena pretended to be Jim Duggan.
