At the time I thought "How come they didn't just add another scratch to the logo? It's 'World Wrestling Entertainment,' not 'World Wrestling.'" But yeah, the name change was rather odd and sudden. Had to be really weird for casual fans too. At least with the IWC we knew that it was to do with the whole Wildlife Fund deal, but to the casual fan it's just as if Vince McMahon decided on a whim that the WWF initials that he had established for nearly two decades were of no further use. I wonder if there was any one person who was excited about the new name. World Wrestling Entertainment? OF COURSE! HEY GUYS! GET THE F OUT!

I didn't go to online forums or news sites, but I knew a little about the World Wildlife Forum's involvement in WWF having to change their name. They had a story about it in the newspaper. I just don't exactly understand why they waited until 2002 to complain.

I really hated the whole situation because not only is the name now ugly, it has also wrecked most of the attitude era footage. Vince should have paid the WWF nature fund the amount needed to enable use of the logo WWF. This payout would not have been wasted either because it would have gone to helping endangered animals, no loss at all. Instead Vince wanted to save as much money as possible thus we are stuck with edited videos, and audio, all to prevent F.

I still call it WWF when I'm talking to people in real life. Sorry, World Wildlife Fund.

I've made it my mission in life to exterminate as many endagered species as possible just because of my hatred for the Wildlife Fund ruining the name of the WWF.

I remember the first Raw under the WWE name they had one of those Hardcore Title segments where the title changes hands approximately 48 times, and Lillian Garcia announced each time "Your new WWE Hardcore Champion.............) just to drill the new name into our heads. I still remember tuning into Raw that night and kept on wondering why she said "WWE" and then I looked at the logo on the bottom left corner of the screen and was all like "What the hell...?" and I knew I had to look at a wrestling site for news on the name change and it was cleared up for me but I didn't really like the whole change. Nine years later, while I have gotten more and more used to calling it WWE, I still would rather it have been WWF. It's still WWF to me, no matter what.
