Ted Dibiase has been floundering in the mid card throughout the past year. Does he need to reinvent himself with a more original persona ?
Since he left Legacy, the "Million Dollar Man Jr." character hasn't gotten over that great.

I'd say so. He's really bland, so the audience needs a reason to care for him.

He's just not the man his dad is. He looks like a kid, sounds like a kid and he can't really cut a promo. Yeah, he's nowhere near as bad as Joe Hennig (who should probably never be allowed near a wrestling ring again) but he's not quite up there with other wrestlers who have a legacy to live up to - Cody Rhodes, for example.
Time to sack him, let him develop his talent on the indy scene and then rehire him if he gets better.

He actually has some charisma, it's not apparent by anything he's done in the WWE but if you watch his YouTube channel he can be pretty entertaining. I feel he's just stuck with a sucky gimmick right now because he's suppose to be a version of his father. He's pretty skilled in the ring as well, I feel like he just needs a few more moves in his moveset to make his matches more exciting.
I think if they gave him free range of character or spend more time writing ideas up for his current character he can turn into a pretty good midcarder.

Yeah, he's nowhere near as bad as Joe Hennig (who should probably never be allowed near a wrestling ring again) Joe's above average in the ring, certainly better than people like Alex Reilly, Brodus Clay, and Husky. Dibiase's good in the ring and can be a solid mid card guy or tag team partner. If they want to do more with him, trade him to smackdown and ally him with Drew or Del Rio, developing his gimmick more. If they want to change his gimmick up, they should repartner him with Cody, giving a darker edge to his character. He could use his money to make people miserable or develop a mean streak.

He had that brief flirtation with the US title and I thought that might go somewhere, now.... apparently not.

I think he needs to turn face. He just looks too likable to be a heel IMO

Ted's ok to decent. There's nothing wrong with that, he's a serviceable wrestler; fairly good in the ring, ok charisma etc..
He's just not a HUGE star.
Some dudes aren't.

Alberto Del Rio should buy him off and make him his Virgil.

That could work if Maryse burnt through all of his cash since she officially chose NXT over him on Tuesday.

Ted DiBisae Jr. is to Ted DiBiase as Shawn Stasiask is to Stan Stasiak.
Now only if Vince would realize this

All this crap about DiBiase (BLAND... BORING.. HE CAN'T WRESTLE.. NOT AS GOOD AS HIS DAD... ETC) was being said 12 months ago about Cody Rhodes.
Give him a decent gimmick, and more importantly invest time and effort on his character and then we can decide.

Ted DiBisae Jr. is to Ted DiBiase as Shawn Stasiask is to Stan Stasiak. Now only if Vince would realize this I'd say it's more along the lines of Dustin to Dusty Rhodes. People forget how bland he was called/is as Dustin but, when given a gimmick and chance (Golddust) he thrived. Ted is damn solid in the ring and can easily draw a reaction from the crowd when given something (see Orton punting him in the head and pushing him around) but, has been given nothing by WWE other than "Go out there and act like your dad".

He's just not the man his dad is. He looks like a kid, sounds like a kid and he can't really cut a promo. Have you seen early footage from Ted Sr.'s career? Without the facial hair he was almost identical to Ted Jr. and he was a little on the bland side as well. I really think people don't give him enough of a chance.

Clearly, he needs a loaded black glove.

Since he left Legacy, the "Million Dollar Man Jr." character hasn't gotten over that great. Well it's not like they really tried. Sure they gave him Maryse and at one point the Million Dollar Title... but they never had him really flaunt his money at all. Think about all they did to sell that the Million Dollar Man was a rich bastard that thought he was better than all the common people in the crowd. He would pay off referees, jobbers, crowd plants, they'd show vignettes of him renting out a public pool for his own use... etc. etc. Or even more modern think about all they do with Del Rio to sell the fact that he's rich... coming out to classic cars, his personal ring announcer, and his fine tailored suits... even his intro vignettes taking place on his estate. Nothing about how they've handled Ted Jr. has been used to push that he's rich therefore better than everyone else. And I agree with irontyger... do people remember during Legacy he was called CAWdy Rhodes? they need to give Ted something if they want to get him over... handing him a prop and sending him out there isn't going to cut it. It's the classic show don't tell philosophy of film.

They need to really push the "spoiled rich son" gimmick.
He should be uber-arrogant and conceited. Ruthless in the ring, and openly flaunting his wealth.
They should let him drive down to the ring in a different sports car every week. Give him a massive bodyguard and let give him a heel female valet, preferably someone who can speak coherent English this time.

Sometimes I think it's best to trust the instincts of new wrestling fans in judging a wrestlers overall talent. I know newbies aren't totally informed on everything going on... However, newbies don't look at WWE with rose color glasses, which is a very good & real way to look at it.
That being said...
My flatmate just started watching WWE about a year ago, and he can not stand DiBiase. He finds him to be boring & grating, and not very impressive in the ring. Any time Dibiase shows up, there is a very large groan in our apartment.
I really agree with everyone of my roomies criticism on DiBiase. Ted Jr, is not his father, he will never be better than his father, and the only reason he may have a job still is his father (and a guaranteed contract). If DiBiase was anyone else, he'd be future endeavored.
I'm not saying DiBiase can't become a decent midcarder. But, I think a few years in the independents would do him good. It would smooth out his ring style & make him more versatile. He'd have to pay his dues day in & out (which because of nepotism, he hasn't done).
The fact is, don't let his good looks, mediocre ringwork, & boring promos, be passed off as "talent."

I'd say so. He's really bland, so the audience needs a reason to care for him. Indeed, he is just so meh. Funny, I thought Ted would be the breakout star of Legacy when they seperated but it is turning out to be Cody go figure.
