Just watched Superstars and talk about an underwhelming return.
I get that maybe with the memory and attention span of most fans now, they don't remember people that wrestled last week, let alone 3 or 4 years ago.
My problem was ...
Not hat, no cigar, no big booming personality.
It was pretty much SRS Estrada.
Me no likey.

But this is the PG era so you can't have him smoking cigars. Instead they should have him eating Slim Jims. But yeah, he sounds odd without that awesome exaggerated accent. I miss that most of all.

And people say it's the wrestlers' fault they can't get over.
WWE is a null-zone of creativity.

Thing of it is I'm not even convinced he's back until it happens on Smackdown. I'm expecting to see a new manager next week.

I was never a huge fan of his. I liked him with Umaga but he was way too cartoonish. I haven't watched superstar but I may aGree with you all if he is just plain boring.

The entire reason he got nerfed to begin with was because he got too over with his catchphrases and charisma. It's no surprise they did this to him when he came back.

WWE: Where there's a such thing as "getting too over".

A big problem with the manager/wrestler dynamic is that if a manger becomes more popular than the guy he is managing, that hurts the actual wrestler.
This is the fatal flaw for all managers. The manager is only there to promote and elevate the wrestler, and having a manger become more popular than the wrestler is a bad thing.

It's not really that catastrophic a thing, you can do plenty with a manager feuding with a wrestler using his client or stable of clients to his means. It's certainly no worse than what they do nowadays with subservient slave stables (Evolution, La Famila, Legacy, Nexus, Corre).

If the guy is good enough and delivers, the manager won't outshine the wrestler. Brock still got over huge with Heyman. Hennig, Rude etc. weren't overshadowed by Heenan. As long as the wrestler does their part, it's fine.

I hate it... WWE really loves to take away everything that gets you over, once you get over Hell, sure he was getting a positive reaction and his promos were getting over pretty good... atleast they were reacting. That's all that matters

I haven't seen Superstars yet but this sounds like a disapointment. I was hoping for big hat, white suit, exagerrated accent, breaking a cigar, fun Armando Estrada

Lesnar, Rude, and Perfect had been given multiple opportunities to prove their worth. Kidd's been given nothing but crap since he split with Smith.

I'm willing to give it a chance, but yeah. The lack of the gimmick is very disheartening
