I think it's going to happen this year. He is simply too good to hold back.
Maybe he'll win MitB and cash it in, or, hopefully, he'll just be elevated into the No. 1 contender's spot once Edge/Del Rio/Christian sort things out.
Nobody deserves it more. He's taken advantage of every opportunity he has ever been given, and in a big way. And I'm not sure there's a better worker on the roster.

I'd like to see him with the Intercontinental or Unites States title first. A good reign with one of these titles where he actually is booked to look strong can go a long way into building up someone for the world titles. Too bad the secondary titles these days aren't booked to mean much as it is no big deal any more when they are not defended on PPV.

I would like to think so. He's great in the ring, fantastic on the mic, hell, if he were about 30 pounds bigger, he'd probably be world champ right now. Cody is hot right now. After Alberto del Rio, Cody is probably the second top heel on Smackdown right now (or at least neck-and-neck with Wade Barrett). I would not be surprised to see Rhodes as World Champion or competing for the World Championship by the end of the year.
Funny side note: he would be the first (and probably only) Rhodes to hold the World Championship in WWE.

Yeah, as good as Cody is I don't see it happening yet. I do see an IC title reign in the future though.

Cody Rhodes is my favorite wrestler of all time, for reasons already stated in this thread. He has just been phenomenal lately.

I've said it before.....Cody Rhodes WILL be World Champ some day. This year however.......I think a GOOD, Long, IC/US title run will do him a world of good.

He's too ugly to be World Champion.

He's too ugly to be World Champion. Tell that to Kane.

Amazing story of a guy that went from "2nd Generation Failure That Will Never Live Up to his Father!" to becoming one of the best young prospects in the business.
If I had to bet right now, I'd say we will see Dusty's, Goldust's, and Cody's name all sitting next to each other up in that Hall of Fame some day.

I'd dig it; the guy is getting more and more awesome by the day.
Long gone are the CAWdy days.

He's too ugly to be World Champion. Tell that to Kane. Kane hasn't been nearly as disfigured as the now unfortunately grotesque Cody Rhodes.

I know he hasn't really been even close to a maineventer, but he is one of those guys that everybody seems to remember. He has been a good worker for WWE for quite a bit of time in his life, he has had some unforgettable segments over the course of his career, and WWE published his book recently. I mean, there are a couple guys in the Hall that are far less deserving than Goldust. It also doesn't hurt that WWE would love to see Dusty and/or Cody up on that stage inducting him.

If he stays clean, I can definitely see Goldust inducted into the Hall of Fame. And if nothing else, the idea of Cody as World champ talking about how he's done what his legendary father and brother couldn't is the sort of thing WWE would love to do.

Goldust will be in the Hall one day. Seriously compare him to the non main eventers in the Hall.
I can see a midcard run first and I would love to see a World Title run, but idk if the E will go for it

I'd dig it; the guy is getting more and more awesome by the day. Long gone are the CAWdy days. Ah yes, good ol' generic blue trunks CAWdy who they saddled Bob Holly with. I would like him to keep his push going. Hell, they didn't let Punk get over Rey an he WAS World Champ several times. World Champ? I'd like to see him get a shot at any of the singles titles up to and including the big two, although an IC or US run would not only do him well, but he is the kind of performer who would enhance the meaning of those belts with his matches and promos. Now isn't a good time though what with all title belts being held by heels with the exception of Edges WHC.

I love how he's making his current gimmick work (seriously, it's MILES better than the "Dashing" gimmick) and now that he's showing some actual personality I actually care about seeing him in the ring now. For a World Title run though, I wouldn't hold your breath.

I don't think it's happening at all. I just can't see it...
I like Cody, but I just couldn't picture him as a top guy
