What we call mediorce, the masses could call entertainment. Remember, not everybody has been watching for 10, 20+ years. To some fans, the "new era" of WWE is what they know, and will grow up watching. I'm sorry but I don't believe that my tastes are somehow more 'refined' than the average wrestling fan. I'm not buying the new 'Entertainment' direction and judging by the dead crowds RAW is constantly opening to unless they trot out one of their old Attitude Era stars, neither are they. At the current rate WWE's going, either another fed is going to end up eventually usurping it, or something else (UFC most likely) will just keep stealing it's demographic until it's little more than a glorified indy. Your taste isn't more refined. What he is saying is that you have other experiences with wrestling that shape what you like and dislike. These kids that are just getting into it only know this...and love this. I've been watching wrestling since 89 (was only 4 but it still counts damn it!) and i could care less about what came before that when i was young. It's why most males (18-35) hate Cena, they think what they've seen before is better (subjective). And it's why 5-13 year old kids love the guy. Your second paragraph is borderline insane though. ;D

The 5-13 year olds today will cheer Cena like they do The Rock now. It's a generational thing, not because The Rock was substantially less corny than Cena is or was.
Anyway, WWE is not invincible, they have been losing money for a while but they are still a very profitable company trying to make a mark in a mainstream way that will be accepted by all. WrestleMania COULD be about Zack Ryder and Primo's big feud for the WHC, and the diehards that attend will go, but the mainstream appeal will not be there -- which is a large component of their success.
This Mania taught me that they wanted to pull out all stops for mass appeal. Everyone knows The Rock, thus why they based the program around him and had him end it.
Because of these factors I think WWE will get pretty high buyrates, this card appeals far more than the previous years' for the casual fans.

People thought WCW was invincible for awhile. We all know how that turned out.
Thought that said I doubt the company will let it get anywhere near THOSE levels.

See while I'm 22 I am a "new fan" since this is my third Wrestlemania . So certain things happen that are clearly a result of that like me so strongly taking Cena's side in the feud with the Rock and generally finding Cena hate to be ridiculous [though I did hate him no selling being fired].
But... I was underwhelmed by Mania. I didn't hate it as much as some people, but I think the fact that I'm a "new fan" and was underwhelmed might be an indicator that this Mania might have been meh for just about everyone. Though perhaps the fact that I hang around on a message board filled with older fans colors my opinions somewhat as well.
