Someone please explain the difference.
Only difference I can tell is whether the person using either phrase likes the wrestler in question.
Sheamus was pushed into a title in, what, less than a year after making his debut.
Most people in the IWC like him, so he was pushed.
A lot of people don't like Miz, so he's been shoved down their throats.
Be honest:
* Nobody was calling for Triple H vs. Undertaker V2. Even two weeks ago nobody on this forum seemed to be buying it. So wasn't that match shoved down our throats?
* Wasn't that Ringmaster Steve Austin guy kind of shoved down our throats when he began evolving into Stone Cold? But once it worked, didn't it then become a brilliant push?
* I guess you could say we've all had Rey Mysterio shoved down our throats for years. But when he steps out on stage and gets one of the biggest pops week after week and year after year, isn't that just WWE giving people what they want?
I could go on and on.
So is there really a difference? If so, without making it about who you like and who you don't, please explain it to me.

"Shoved down our throats" seems to be pretty much used when a wrestler you don't care for is getting a push.

Pushed is a neutral term.
Shoved down our throats means the same as a push, but its a negative connotation.
Example:
Del Rio was/is pushed into the main event scene. Most people think he's worthy of being in that scene and having those opportunities.
John Cena has been shoved down our throats. He mostly wins and is always in the championship picture. He has many people who are bored with the kind of push he receives.

I think it becomes "shoved" when the push clearly isnt getting over, but they continue anyway. Drew Mcintyre was pushed, the crowd didnt buy it, but they continued to push him anyway despite negative reactions, thus he became "shoved"

Same goes for someone who's bad in the ring, but get pushed when there are others that are capable ie. Eve/Kelly Kelly over Natalya, Beth, Gail Kim.
