Well it's pretty apparent, that Kane's best days were with his mask on. But not everything lasts forever. It was bound to happen, and the intrigue was at an all time high following his unmasking. Unfortunately, it wasn't as hot as it could've been. You would think that once Kane unmasked that he would go batshit crazy and nobody on the entire planet could stop his rage...
Anywho, what would you have done....how would you have unleashed the true monster within Kane

I wouldn't have.
Ever.
To this day, even considering Glenn's got a cool-looking face and great expressions, the character's never recovered from that misstep, IMO.

Absolutely agree with rnrk. Unmasking Kane took a lot of the character's mystique and his credibility took a big hit when they explained that his burns were "psychological".
Even without Paul Bearer, they could've found him a new manager if needed. I think Armando Alejandro Estrada could've done a good job in that role.

I'll third that he shouldn't have ever unmasked.

I both fourth AND fifth the notion that he never should have lost the mask.

I don't know why people cling to this myth that Kane's de-badassing started when he took off his mask.
The character'd lost most of it's fangs long before that.
And honestly I like crazy, unstable Kane better than silent behemoth Kane.

I mean he was pretty much spinning his wheels in 02-03 but it was the stuff that happened after his unmasking that killed him as a monster in my eyes. The entire feud with Shane was ridiculous and I remember a RAW where Kane sat in a restaurant in normal clothes with Shane and I was just shaking my head and thinking "This is not Kane at all..."

But if they were gonna do it... they might as well have made him unstoppable. Kane, without a mask... nobody in the WWE would have been safe.
It was a huge missed opportunity imo

I don't think he should've been unmasked either, and he never shoud've stopped using that voice box to talk. If Glen Jacobs wanted out of the character, then they could always get someone else to be Kane and give him a new character (or bring back Isaac Yankem ). Or it should've been a one time deal. Have it in a backstage segment where they could've used quality make up. Get Rob Bottin or Greg Nicotero to do it.

He's just such a freaking weird character. He puts Undertaker, his own brother, in a coma and, a couple of months later, he's teaming with Big Show again as if nothing happened. It's like, "Oh, Kane almost killed a guy.... eh, he's Kane, that's what he does" and then we all move on

HOW I WOULD HAVE DONE IT:
Pretty much exactly how it was, except it would have been on Pay-Per-View and then literally the RAW before the PPV, thrown in the Mask stipulation.
Am I alone in liking the psychological scars-angle? I think by not making Kane more of a cerebral psychopath is where they dropped the ball during Kane's path of destruction.
When that angle began to cool years down the road, I would have maybe had Batista and Orton "disfigure" his face and put him back in a new mask.

I wouldn't have changed a thing - except I wouldn't attempted the "grotesque" look that they tried, and bailed on, after that initial unmasking. Kane was pretty awesome post-unmasking, and really, he's had a lot of great storylines since then. Masked Kane had run its course.

Well I wouldn't have him shave 3/4 of his head, I'll tell you that.

You're so right about that. I expected the theme for All My Children to start playing after that segment.

The only misstep in my opinion was asking us all to believe that his hair was suddenly a wig this whole time. Oh...that, and turning him from an imposing monster to Hannibal Lector. For awhile there, they made him sadistic but seemed to neglect his size and strength.

Done it at WrestleMania against Undertaker, Streak vs. Mask, and had him go on an even bigger rampage after the fact.

The only changes I would make to what they did was bring Paul Bearer or UT into the story to convince him that he was actually disfigured and the ensuing feud should have been with RVD and not Shane. I will say that his initial heel turn was must see TV for the first few weeks until they had him burn Jim Ross who came back seemingly fine and then try to electrocute Shane's nuts.

I would have had Lawler yell "AAAH! IT'S MY DENTIST!!" right after Kane turned around to look at the camera.
