Many people are complaining that Christian's World Heavyweight Title reign was cut short, and I can understand that, since the IWC majority was behind him. Here's the problem though, many also complain that titles get passed around often and to many people like a street whore.
Back in the 80s and 90s, we didn't have this "Its My Turn" phenomenon. Many were lucky just to FACE the WWF champion on Saturday Night's Main Event.
If the roster was the same in the 80s as it is today, guys like CM Punk, John Morrison, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, and many others would be lucky just to be IC champion. If being around for a long time was all it took to finally "have a turn", Mark Henry would be a 7 time WWE/World champion by now.
We should all be thankful that Christian at least tasted the World title, and is also in the elite list Grand Slam Champions. Wheather he should've had a longer reign or whathaveyou shouldn't be an issue since his name has made the lineage of World Champions.
Your thoughts?

I was thinking of this the other day. Though I agree, it still saddens me that his name is only a blip on the radar.

It's not 1985, so I don't really care how it would have been different for Christian back then. That and the WHC isn't worth crap anyway so having his name on the list means less than it used to even back in '04.

I'm kind of glad it's gone down the way it has.
I can't remember the last time Christians been such a hot topic. And I wonder if that moment would have been his peak, and had he kept the title for a bit, if all this momentum would have faded away. Ala Benoit.
I don't think it should have been Orton but there was little to no alternative short of drafting someone from RAW.
Either way, I'm glad he got the title. Not everyone will. Still a huge accomplishment IMO.

Lol you guys are acting like he's not gonna ever win it back again I highly doubt his push is over Basically this. Only I can't say I highly doubt it b/c WWE has done some boneheaded stuff in the past. Look at Kane's 1 day title reign only to never hold the title again until over 10 years later.

If you want to be technical, Kane is still yet to have another WWE title reign. He held the World Heavyweight Title for the first time.

I'm sure his prolonged main-event push will be as glorious as Dolph Ziggler's.
(Please prove me wrong, WWE. And while you're at it, push Ziggler as well.)

We should be happy that Christian holds a job with the top wrestling company, and is alive and doing well for himself.
World title reigns and super=pushes and all that sort of stuff are taken so much for granted.

Honestly, at this point the WHC means less than the IC belt did in the 80's and 90's.

I'd say the WHC is about the same as the I-C title of the 80s and 90s. Christian got the Mountie's I-C title run.

That was the time when WWF raided all the top talent from every other promotion. The 80s roster was stacked. Plus Hogan was the biggest star ever and there wasn't tons of TV. The roster is really thin right now. Christian as champ would've meant exciting fresh match ups whereas Orton has already extended feuds with 3 of the top heels there.

I think for many, it could be that he was with the company from 1998-2005 and 2009-present, that he was given a 2 day transitional reign as though he was just a stepping stone.
