Kane has been unmasked now longer then masked. He debuted in Oct. 1997, and lost the mask in June 2003, so he was masked 5 years, 8 months.
He is now going on 7 years, 11 months or so w/out the mask.
Crazy when you think of it.

Next time Halloween rolls around he should put the mask on and go as himself.

A similar one to this I noticed near the end was that Shawn Michaels's first singles run was shorter than his second.
January 1992-March 1998 (6 years 2 months) vs. August 2002-March 2010 (7 years 7 months)

I wish Kane could somehow get masked again.

I wish Kane could somehow get masked again. Strongly agreed. I can understand the unmasking being cool and all that at the time, but now we just see him as the chubby, balding old midcarder who has little relevance.

Why do people think him putting a mask on will instantly make him better? He'll look ridiculous and there's no point.

And both periods of time with and without the mask are longer than the period of time he wore a towel on his head.

And both periods of time with and without the mask are longer than the period of time he wore a towel on his head. which is even longer than the period when he had thin curly hair and a giant bald spot

I can understand the unmasking being cool and all that at the time, but now we just see him as the chubby, balding old midcarder who has little relevance. ...is he even balding? He had a full head of hair up until he lost the mask ... I figured he just shaved his head, not that he was balding. But then, haven't really seen what his hair looks like longer than bald since he shaved it. And I don't know about chubby ... he's not lean, but it doesn't look like its fat, it looks like he's still solid. Nevertheless, I think, depending on how its done, Kane going mask again could be interesting. It would really depend on the story. Like he snaps so bad that he completely reverts to how he was when he first came into the WWE ... a complete psychotic breakdown ... forgets how talk ... the whole nine yards. That could be interesting ...

I prefer Kane without the mask. I know that's blasphemy around these parts, but whatever.

He's been worlds better without the mask than with in my opinion. His facial expressions and delivery alone are so much better.

Why do people think him putting a mask on will instantly make him better? He'll look ridiculous and there's no point. Because humanity, on average, doesn't like change. They stay focused on the past, on "the way we were" and "the good ol' days". Look at how much the crowd pops for the Attitude Era guys and girls, even though they don't tour with WWE, don't bust their hump day in and day out like the rest of the roster. Besides, let's not pretend that Kane was in his prime when he was masked and it was just snatched from him and he was berriedz; Sure, from his debut, Kane was a monster. He WAS the Big Red Machine. But he was no monster by the end of his masked run. Hell, the only thing that kept Kane from becoming what Abyss is now those last two years was that Kane was actually funny, instead of just bizarre (and somewhat pitiable). At the time, Kane's being unmasked was a jolt of new blood into the character, and the fact that he's lasted longer unmasked is proof that it worked.

I prefer Kane without the mask. I know that's blasphemy around these parts, but whatever. Co-signed. Lauging Sadist > Mute Masked Guy To elaborate: I think Masked Kane is, like many other characters and angles, been gilded by nostalgia. When he debuted, he was extremely threatening and intimidating; he was a big-effin'-deal. Fast forward to about '98, and he's had nearly all of his fire put out. He goes from being the Corporation's lackey, to X-Pac's lackey, to D-X's buttmonkey; more or less, he's lost a lot his edge. Fast-forward, he goes off television; comes back with a modified version of his mask, and all of a sudden, he's doing spinaroonies and talking like Hogan. Now here's where the change happens. He loses a title-versus-mask match to Triple H. Almost the second he has to take it off, everything stops; his demeanor changes, he loses his funniness, but his fire is back. He spends the next three-odd years a big deal, because he's gotten back the edge he had when he debuted. He's setting people on fire, he's putting people on injury, the works. Of course, we know how that ended up: they humanized him for his angle with Snitsky, and since then, he's sort of been fluctuating between funny psycho and psychotic psycho. But in the end, I've felt much more promise for psychotic unmasked Kane than I have for the robotic masked Kane. Just my two cent.

His world title run last year was friggin' wonderful, and it was because he's such a great actor with facial expressions. It's how he's booked, not how he looks.
