I don't mind the Sport references, if anything you can learn a little from American culture from them.
What I don't like is the Jingoistic Bullshit and Political propaganda.

WWE is an American-based company. If you're a foreign viewer, you have to accept it. You are watching an American product. What do you expect?

I'm American, and I can agree with this -- I know a lot of Americans wouldn't see it this way, but to me, it is a little much.

That annoyed me too but I didn't make a thread on it as I didn't want to get political. The episode in general featured way too much Americana and left a bad taste in my mouth. Yes I realise it's an American show, but it is meant to be a company that appeals to a worldwide audience. I just didn't like last night at all.

Well, you watched an episode focused on all things Rock, the day after Public Enemy #1 for America got taken out. Frankly I'm happy they approached the Bin Laden thing with as much class as they did instead of having a dumb ass comedy bit.

Maybe I am a hippie who is too simple but I find it hard to believe the way America works really.
Granted, it was a scumbag like Bin Laden, but the fact we've seen people crying with joy at someone's death (and apparently a woman and a small child too from what I've read) and USA chants like some mindless cult makes me uneasy.
Do Americans realise they look like David Koresh followers to the rest of the planet?

I'd love to see WWE try a sports reference at a Glasgow house show. Someone coming out to a Celtic or Rangers top would incite a riot. I recall them making references to sports oversees when they have shows there. I remember one time when MVP was doing his "Beating athletes from around the world" gimmick, one of the jobbers when they were in the UK was given that. They screwed it up by having him play for a team the home audience hated (I think they said he was from Leeds or something?) , which didn't do MVP much good since he was a heel.

Its just way too easy to get a crowd to boo a guy based on a jersey. They have to take advantage when the situation is staring them in the face.
Its not like have in depth sports conversations. Its a pretty simple concept people outside the US can grasp. Hometown team = cheer. Rival = boo. Hell, they do it overseas sometimes too, and I'm not lost.

I remember when MVP randomly came out with a Man United top. And that was actually in America.

It's an American based show, ergo, sometimes you're gonna get largely Americana based references.
Sorry ya don't like 'em, but I can' t imagine they're going away.

Im fairly sure the hang gesture was an imitation of the University of Miami Hurricanes logo, the college at which the Rock played football. You would be absolutely correct. The University of Miami is known as "The U", therefore the helemt logo and hand signal.

Yeah I hate the sport references and all the Americana stuff but I was expecting it last night so it didn't bother me too much.
This isn't the board to get into the discussion but the one thing that bugs me is WWE never mention the other 37 countries (thanks Wiki!) that are also involved in this war, it's all 'U-S-A!' which I guess I understand, especially last night, but would it really hurt if when they do their usual stuff about the troops say 'Thanks to our American forces and all of our allies around the World!'.
Anyways.. yeah. Sport references = meh. When they are in Manchester and they come out in United shirts and get booed.. I find that hilarious.

"Too American" is a criticism I honestly didn't expect to see about the WWE. I mean, that's pretty much everything now.
