Is it just me, or has Raw, both as a set and how its shot, looked the same and really stagnant for ages now?
If we look back to the 90s, the look and setup of the shows changed drastically. Obviously there are outside factors, given bigger budgets, bigger arenas etc, but it made the shows feel fresh and exciting. If we think back to recent history, shows at Madison Square Garden, of the retro Raw, felt really cool and different partly because they looked different.
The reason I post this is I've looked at shows from 2006 and apart from the changes to the titantron/entrance area, it pretty much looks the same. The same camera angles, the same tones. The shows feel fresh and dynamic when the WWE changes from the standard formula, so perhaps it is time to try a new formula?
I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this or whether they thought the same way, or whether I'm ranting and raving like a muppet.

I think it's stagnant and generic too.
I mean, I hate that both Raw and SD, as well as many PPVs, have the generic titantron entrance. I loved the old SD tron areas- the ovaltron and the fist. I guess Raw needs something dynamic, like SD did in the 90s-early 00s.

The Old School RAW was the best RAW has looked in ages.

The Old School RAW was the best RAW has looked in ages. This. They should bring back the banners hanging from the top- even if they were updated and digital (switching from animated logos to action in the ring) I'd love it.

Hence why I miss the original ECW set-up: Small entrance which comes through the crowd Commentary table in the centre, across from the hard camera Turn down the lights during the match like at a house show
NXT initially tried the ROH on HDNet style of never using the hard camera, but I think that's fallen by the wayside.

I think it's about time for a new Raw logo, really. You had the original Raw, the Raw is War, the post 9/11 Raw that lasted until the Rhombustron debuted, the jet engine Raw logo that lasted till 2006-2007ish, and now the current one.
What's kind of funny and ironic is how something that debuted with the concept of being raw and unpolished is now anything but.

I just cooked up a quick logo in 5 minutes: Has the old school feel that the WWE is fond of in its programming as of late, and it looks contemporary. Ehh, that's my shill.

Its old school and modern at the same time, with the attitude era logo (which really they should probably update), looming in the background. Cool stuff.

I'm working on a set, which is kinda inspired by the set the original MNR had in the last days before it became Raw is War, with the tron coming from between the two letters, only on this set it'll be where the "Monday Night" is in the logo.

Awesome, you'll have to post it/send it WWE HQ along with a resume for set director.

WWE are obsessed with "metal"
All the logos for TV shows and PPV's usually have "metallic" motifs.
Very tired and stale now.

I'm sick of them bathing the crowd in red light.

They should add video displays to the ring apron like they have all the way around the arenas.

I'm sick of them bathing the crowd in red light. This times a million. I don't have a problem with the Raw set/entrance. I just hate that stupid covering of the crowd in red light (blue on SD). I feel it covers some of the crowds reaction, expressions and signs as well.

It's the HD set. The old PPV sets were alot cooler.

The Raw set would look better with a giant fist...

It's the HD set. The old PPV sets were alot cooler. A thousand times, this. Prior to the whole HD thing, everything had it's own look (SmackDown's was always better, but still). Now RAW and SmackDown are pretty much mirrors of each other, while WrestleMania is one of the few, if not only, PPV's that don't look like the others.

I liked the old days when wrestlers would step out from a black curtain below the WWF block logo
