In light of Edge's farewell and emotional speech last night, that got me thinking about how his on-screen gal Lita left the WWE in 2006.
Some of us still think that she probably deserved to leave the WWE on a better note than when she did at the 2006 Survivor Series- loses the match, loses the women's belt, get embarassed by Cryme Tyme- but a few people said it was a sendoff for her character.
How would you have booked her om-screen farewell?
1. Would you have had her win the match against Mickie and go out a winner?
2. Would you have had her go out a little differently on the mic instead of yelling and complaining? I'm not saying she should have given a farewell speech ala Edge last night or Stone Cold at the 2003 Survivor Series, but surely she could have left on a better note on-screen?

She was really getting too much heat to try and give her a proper send off without the fans calling her a slut the whole time.

What the hell was with her recent random cameo?

I'd have Lita forfeit the match, giving the title to Mickie. Post-match, Lita beats down on poor Mickie ending with a Twist of Fate and Litasault. Lita then gets on the mic, and tells the fans that she's sorry she did what she did. She says she "felt she had to". She tells the fans all of the bad stuff she did was not he true personality, and says that, truth be told, she hated every minute of having sex with Edge. She wraps it up by saying the fans of WWE are the best fans in the world, and that she couldn't have asked for a better career. She walks out of the arena, and into the sunset.

Honestly, I still would have had her job out to Mickie. Like someone said, she was such an evil heel that she had to get her comeuppance. There was no need for the Cryme Tyme stuff. Just have Mickie skip off into the sunset while Lita cries tears of humiliation in the middle of the ring.
It's kind of sad that her character never was redeemed in the eyes of the fans, but I think the climate was such that they never would have accepted a face turn.

I would've ended it similarly, albeit with her jobbing to Mickie rather than beating her down. Have Mickie leave, have Lita come to her senses, and then have her speak, whether or not she gets booed. Understandable that she was a heel, but the sendoff they gave her was deplorable.

So she forfeits the title... then does a heel beat down on the top woman face at the time.. and then says it wasn't her true personality and is expected to be cheered? Faces go out as heroes. Heels go out as pathetic and cowardly as their characters have always been. Look at the way Jericho went out the first time, kicking and screaming. Or last time, punted in the head and carried off on a stretcher whilst the cameras focused on Orton staring at Sheamus. You just can't have everyone going out to standing ovations and tears. If Edge was still heel he wouldn't have got the farewell he did last night. He'd have probably have just been fired by Teddy Long and never been seen again. Besides she had that nice moment with Trish on the 15th anniversary show which was a little bit of 'yay, Lita is nice again' closure.

Hard fought match. Mickie wins.
Lita then gets the belt and hands it to a reluctant Mickie. She extends a hand and after a few moments, they shake.
Lita then grabs the mic and cuts the above suggested promo

Job to Mickie, tell the fans you don't deserve me and walk off. No way in hell would she be cheered at that time.

Not everyone can go out amazingly. Lita was a despised heel, no one would want her to get a hero's sendoff. The way she went out was fine for her character. Remember, that's what it is, a character. A lot of people don't even get sendoffs.

Have her do what the Rock did after he jobbed to Goldberg in 03.......after the match just have her cut a speech (out of character of course) about how it was a fun ride and blah blah blah she walks out to the sunset.

What the hell was with her recent random cameo? She's a huge fan of Pee Wee Herman and came to the show to see him.

The Cryme Tyme stuff was not needed, plain and simple. She could've lost to Mickie, throw a mini-tantrum in the ring about losing, throw a big FU to the fans and leave.

She was a uber heel, why do people need a send off? It should be saved for big time faces only.

What the hell was with her recent random cameo? The week before on Impact, TNA had Ric Flair hitting on some chick called "Lita". So, I think WWE decided to make them look stupid by bringing in the real Lita. Spite at its finest.

If I had any kind of photoshop or visual art skills, I would be creating a picture of Kane tossing a bag of different colored thongs into a burning barrel right f'ing now.
And...the subsequent picture of Kane in mid flight on an ugly abortion of a moonsault, head 2 inches from the canvas, wearing a thong over his wrestling tights and one over his face.
But I don't.

The Cryme Tyme stuff was not needed, plain and simple. She could've lost to Mickie, throw a mini-tantrum in the ring about losing, throw a big FU to the fans and leave. Exactly. Something like Batista's exit, but without the injury. Basically, have her go off on the crowd for booing her, refer to herself as the best Diva-- no, best Women's wrestler in WWE at that time. Then, when the boos actually begin to drown her out, have her yell "Screw this! I QUIT!", and out right say to hell with the Women's division. Then, as she makes her way backstage, Edge tries to stop her, she slaps him, and then declares the negative turn of events all his fault. Lita walks off to catch a cab (the only directions being "far away from here") while Edge chases her. As the cab leaves, the camera pans over to... Matt Hardy, who applauds her leaving and says, quietly to himself, "Bye, Lita". Then he laughs to himself, as though he won something. Brings everything full circle, I think.

Essa Rios comes out and they tearfully reunite as the lights dim in the arena and Endless love is played over the loudspeaker.
Or, just have her lose, and give a lil thanks speech at the end.

Basically, she had to go that way, because she was a heel and because of her character. Like, when Jericho left that time in 2005, it was his idea to be dragged kicking and screaming, because he was a heel. Not everyone should get the big send off deal, because not everyone is a big important babyface. Some people are heels, and they should go out as heels.
If they wanted to turn her babyface, then they could get some sympathy on her by having Edge be verbally abusive to her, cheat on her, and have it come out that her issue with Matt Hardy came about because Edge manipulated her or something like that. But honestly, unless I wanted to have her go out as a babyface with the angle with Edge, I probably would have done the same thing.
