If we would have gotten the WrestleMania 9 ending tonight, would that have been any better ?

Cena loses and then Randy Orton winning in 10 seconds?

Not really.
Its debatable enough to put a guy who won't be wrestling full time over not only your heel champion, but also your top babyface, like they did tonight. Rock getting title would have been that x10.

No, Miz challenging the Rock to a title shot. Rock wins the title at the close of the show.

Honestly, I would've preferred Rock challenge Miz right there and win the title. If he was gonna make the champ AND challenger look lame at the end, he might as well become PART of the equation and win the world title. TBH that'd be a decent booking decision as the most over guy on the show would walk out champ, people would be interested in whatd go down on Raw, and the WWE would have a world champion people REALLY care about (nothing against Miz, who IS very over and has mainstream appeal). It wouldn't be like the WMIX Hogan ending, because the circumstances are totally different, and the Rock in 2011 is not Hogan in 1993. As it was, that was a TV ending where it looked like we might get a very innovative Wrestlemania ending.

For a moment I thought it was actually gonna happen.

Wait, what exactly was so bad about this ending? (Serious question)
If Cena would have won, people would have been pissed with its predictability. This was a much better option. Miz deserved to get some comeuppance. Why shouldn't it come from the Rock?

I was thinking it wouldn't have been bad if Rock won the title. Would have made sense and Miz would have an out because he just wrestled a 15-minute match and was already knocked silly. Yoko's 30-second lost to Hogan did nothing to weaken him.

It would not have saved the show, but it would have been memorable and left a good ending.
That ending was awful

Miz deserved to get some comeuppance. Why shouldn't it come from the Rock? Your babyface is down and out and your champion just got his ass kicked. Rock will be tottling off to Hollywood for a while again and there ya go. Dumb. They could have gained a lot more with Rock giving Miz the People's Eyebrow at ringside after the win. Miz can claim Rock has hand picked him, Rock can go away and leave his intent to be ambiguous.

We ended with an unscheduled <1 minute long match, and the two youngish guys who'd been promoted as headlining the show (and WWE in general) end up getting laid out so that we can finish with a basically-retired star of olden days standing tall at the end.
In other words, we GOT the Wrestlemania IX ending.

I don't think it would have been bad if it did not end the show. Swap places with HHH/Taker and it would be fine.

No.
Then what. Rock drops the title at SummerSlam and goes back to his home planet? Take your head out of your ass, and think about long term booking.

It would've made it a far more significant ending. So, yes.
I thought it was gonna happen, too.

I wanted the Rock to challenge for (and win) the title, but by announcing that he IS the GM, becoming a crazy egomaniac hell-bent on taking over the whole company, renaming it "Rock Raw" after he wins the title, and doing an even MORE amplified version of "Hollywood Rock"....alas, that didn't happen.
