In the last month, I've heard it used thusly: "Daniel Bryan lost the US title? Buried." "Morrison got pinned by Vickie Guerrero? Buried." "If Bryan loses his US title match tonight, SURELY he is more buried than not being on the Wrestlemania card."
Yeah, the same people never complained during Sheamus' three month losing streak, surprisingly. It's just thrown around anymore when ANYONE loses a match. It just bugs the crap out of me that when someone loses in a fashion that doesn't even merit a bural (ie. Daniel and Sheamus having a long match), and says they're being buried!
I needed to vent and get this off my chest, but really? One loss makes a burial now? REALLY?!

wish I saw this before my post. I posted something similar about people complaining how bad Miz and Cena looked last night at the hands of the Rock. But Cena only took a rock bottom after being caught off guard and it was one night. He will recover. Not that big of a deal.

Some of those examples, maybe not. But anytime anyone has a feud with Big Show, they get buried. Ex. CM Punk, Jack Swagger, The Corre, etc.

It is THE single most over used term in all of internet wrestling discussion.

Honestly, the term is used so often that it's lost all meaning. So when someone is actually buried people still defend it.
To paraphrase Syndrome, when everyone is buried, nobody is.

People use it as a way of saying "he got made to look bad", even if it's a one off.

Imo it's more annoying when people parody it and say "BERRIEDZ"
its not funny.

If you kept saying someone is buried whenever they lose a match or do get the upper hand in a feud, when it comes time someone is really is being buried; the word loses its impact.

Agreed. People really need to look back in history at actual burials. The whole point of a burial is that a guy cannot recover from it. Dean Douglas was buried in the WWE. Sheamus hasnt been.

It was mostly used for IWC darlings but yeah it's getting used for everyone on here these days. Kinda annoying. Just hope no one makes an appreciation thread about it. That might cause the board to spontaneously combust or something.

Buried is one being a regular on the card and now is M.I.A. like JTG.
Sheamus was buried during that long losing streak because he went from a World Title contender to know a U.S. Champion who got bumped off the WrestleMania show.

yeah, the word Buried is used ALOT around here....i remember a raw thread that had people screaming burial at basically EVERYTHING....Bryan won his match, but had like 9 people talking about how hes buried because he is stuck with the bella's..
then Ziggler had a promo and there were about 12 some people talking about how he is being buried because Vickie is taking all his heat...
then Punk is buried because he is a commentator now...
i still love the over-reactions when Wade lost at TLC and there was a poster that went over board with it saying crap like "honestly, he looks so bad no company will take him after he gets released next week. Cena made him look like a CHUMP!! and he will wind up getting deported because no company will book him because all his cred is gone"
i think it was the same poster who in the many "bryan is fired" threads...said "Bryan is going to sign with TNA in 90 days, and WWE will be out of business in 6 months, this is a FACT!"

Actually, I heard more people complaining about Sheamus' losing streak than complaining about Bryan and Morrison losing. Seriously, I don't remember anyone complaining about Bryan losing the US title b/c they thought it meant he had a WM match with Sheamus. I only heard a few people complaining about Morrison being pinned by Vickie, and rightfully so. You're simply making up issues here. I don't think anybody can say Bryan has been buried lately. Since his return at SummerSlam he has probably won more than he's lost, and got a long run with the US title. Plus clean wins over Miz and Ziggler who both went on to bigger things shortly after.

The "buried" thing, the "wrestler, uh...I mean ENTERTAINER" and appreciation/depreciation threads have pretty much killed any logical wrestling discussion on this board and anywhere else.

People just like saying the word
"Berriedz"
