I'm really interested in finding out about Edge. It wasn't the flaming spot - did you guys see his friggin eye? IT WAS NOTHING BUT BLOOD and it seemed like he was having vision problems. I hope he's okay.

I'm no Cena fan at all, but that was probably one of his best promos I've seen him cut in a while. It's on the post-Wrestlemania 22 recap show. I suggest people check it out, you might like it.

I just finished watching some of the Edge/Foley match and it impressed me a bit, I admit. Edge should at least get in the title picture after this.

I honestly rank this WrestleMania as one of my top 5 or 10. The card was a lot better than I had expected it to be.
So many memorable spots, and the crowd was incredible.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how they will follow it up on Smackdown.
On Raw, it's probably a given that Trips will challenge Cena for the title at Backlash. They'll probably have a tag match tomorrow w/Trips pinning Cena and showing that he can pin the champion leading into the PPV.

Edge's expression after his win in that match turned me from a guy who really dislikes Edge to a guy with some moderate interest.
It was that good.

The thing about that is, Mickie was working over Trish's leg most of the match. When it came time to hit the Stratusfaction, it sorta made sense for Trish's leg to give out. I mean, yeah, it was a botch, but even the botch made sense. I didn't know it was a botch until I came here on the boards, so I'm just gonna pretend it wa ssupposed to be that way ;D The stratusfaction was not a botch...it was a block...look at trish's arms...that was planned...what made it bad was both ladies were not used to that long a match and were not pacing right...hence why the mick kick was so weak...you can see how out of breath mickie was. Anyway I think the mickie pops were more on ability. She carried trish a little...and thats something because trish is a good wrestler. Hopefully they will meet a few times more...they should pay fit finlay a visit and have them talk pacing though...that match was in overdrive with the only rest hold being a half crab (which aint no resthold for anyone.) they were trying to get the crowd over with a match worthy of 7 months of buildup (spare that teaser match at the rumble) Anyway...they had a great storyline and one that should intensify if they could do a 12 min match with proper pacing i think a cage match at summerslam could be in order. I think these two are both skilled and over enough to make it a good one. It was a defining moment in womens wrestling...I hadnt seen a crowd like that for a womens match (sleeze or non sleeze) since the GLOW. Anyway match by match now Carlito/Masters vs Big Slow and Kane Decent opener, they want carlito to go face, don't they. Id expect this tomorrow if not then by backlash. Big Slow and Kane need to drop the straps tho. 2.5 out of 5 really needed a title change here even if it was a 2dwa style where they hate eachother while holding the straps bit. MITB: Ok I will be PISSED if flairs injury was a work...which i suspect because he returned then wondered if it was real and he toughed it out cuz he didnt do the Bret Hart RR 94 thing and end up winning or sorta winning well you know. That being said...lashley and finlay made things more grounded and phychologoical which is good because the main complaint last year was that the match was too ECW spotfest and not enough wrestling. Matt was good date insurance to keep the spots up and there were some SICK spots. Lets see if this is really to hype ecw homecoming or if RVD really will use his title shot at a wwf ppv. I ve always said hes only in WWE cuz hes too over to be depushed or fired...a la jake the snake in the 80s. This match is why. He did well...he deserved the win...hopefully he gets main event push rather than edge who was buried in midcard to pop up and win the title suddenly. Good match 4 out of 5 JBL Benoit: REALLY hated the eddie mocking...JBL takes his heel character too far this is not a new problem, him doin the 3 amigos was probs planned, but him going on and on with eddie's taunts was pushing it. Weak finish, I insist that there is NO place for screwjobs at WM...but this feud will continue...so it was at least not totally out of place. but a good match from two good workers 3 of 5 Foley/Edge: SIDE NOTE: nice of vince to let Joey do the hardcore match as the ECW expert. Nice speech by ross too. Anyway, Coulda used a little less interference from lita...but some sick spots...the sidewalk slam into the tacks was brutal...as was the wire...and a flaming table (REAL table not a plunder table) hasnt been done in wwe i think...edge is pretty hardcore but he played the dunno what im getting into scared heel bit to a T. And he put over foley while winning with his post match reaction...and he took some major punishment. foley put on a show but i thought he no sold a little with his playing to the crowd after the match...not intentionall though. A good ol fashioned ecw style bloodbath. 4 of 5 only because of the constant run ins by lita. Booker/Boogey: Awful, the segement before was better than the match...Boogey is awful in the ring and apparently was injured to boot. Booker as a wimp heel is stupid and undercuts his talent even though he IS coming back from knee problems. Adding sharmell just made it more of a joke. Funny finish tho which drags it up to a 2 of 5 Trish/Mickie: See above...great match but It had some pacing issues, i dont think either are used to going that long. Some SICK spots, that flying wishbone counter to trish's headstand top rope takedown was nasty and I never saw that springboard stomp to the inner knee EVER. Great match and the finish I think was more lack of experience with longer matches and resulting tiredness. But still need points off so 4 of 5. Id give them a half a point more but i think they shoulda realized their fatigue there and brought it home right after the fingering/taunt with a quick mick kick on a squicked trish rather than the stratusfaction botch/block. woulda made more sense too, nitpick i know but given the result was a botch that will have all the naysayers abuzz on how women cant carry a long match...a needed one but beats the francine beulah matches for best US womens match ever...by a longshot. Henry/Taker: Standard UT vs oversized jobber fare, but a KILLER plancha by UT and getting henry perfectly set up for the tombstone was worth watching henry go bye bye therefore dragging this from a 2.5 to a 3 out of 5 Vince/HBK: OK I was NOT impressed. The opening was a clusterscrew with the spirit squad. The middle was a clusterscrew with shane...the end was 5 minutes long as HBK was busy playing devil or angel...as for the 15ft ladder spot...it was obvious that a plunder table (sawed through for a clean break in half. was used and not a real table like was used in the foley match, but given vince excusable but then the whole not taking off the weatherstripping and HBK getting tied up was funny. The end was just i dunno...telegraphed and overdrawn. 2 out of 5...but it was vince who is not a wrestler but i was expecting a 3. SD Main: 3 way dance for title Mysterio using the condor mask was a dead giveway of the result...the kickout of the RKO and the unseen taps just cemented it. I agree with the panel, angle carried the match. Orton is no champ yet and Rey was off his game (he botched the 619 around the pole.) But it was entertaining and I think with all the national media rey was getting it was appropriate for him to win the strap. Let him keep it til the next Smackdown PPV. 4 of 5...half point off for the ending being badly telegraphed. Playboy Pillow fight: Decent womens match amoung non wrestlers. Problem...NO ONE EXPLAINED THE RULES...so it was a regular match with pillows in the ring? It just I dunno...bad placement too...id rather see backstage promos than an extra match between the two mains myself. The PB whoring did NOT help. 1 out of 5. Crowd was out of it...this lot of fans was NOT into just T and A to get over. HHH Cena: STUPID entrances...and ripping off TNA's bringing back the old boxing style intros for title matches are we? Wierd crowd, rather alarmingly rough...note how tight the camera work was at the end of the match and how quick the cut to the review was. Cena went tweener/heel at the WWE.com postgame so some of it made sense. Odd match...and odder ending...you resist the KO but then tap...just go to sleep then!. But a good one...very SOLID match wrestling wise...and cena gave more than I banked on...BUT the whole thing seemed off...and i think the crowd did some of it...hhh didnt know if he should be a heel or play to the crowd's very warm reception. And cena retaining...WTF that solves nothing, if HHH has his push because hes bedding steffie...i dread to think whos in the sack with cena! . But best match of the night...was WM Main event worthy. 4.5 of 5....5 off for the odd finish. Overall...good...but they aint filling ford field with this motley crew...they need someone...or something and need it quick. Cena retaining makes no sense whatsoever and will only bring WWE down. my 2c...from the wrestlecrap board

Definitely not the best Mania I've ever seen, but not the worst either. Most stuff was good (I don't really count the pillow fight as a match), the only thing that truly stunk was the Boogeyman.

From 411wrestling.com:
VIOLENT PANDA Wrestling Review
Overall: A very, very good show. Lots of hardcore stuff (which I love), a GREAT crowd, just tons of fun. The WWE really tried to give us our money's worth, and I think they pulled it off. Yes, there was some shit in there. But there's a LOT to like about this. Wrestlemania 22 was good. A FOUR out of FIVE.
And on the same web page:
The WrestleMania XXII Breakdown Posted by J.D. Dunn
Final Thoughts: This one was all over the map. There were some moments that would be at home on a single brand PPV, but this is the biggest show of the year — the Super Bowl of wrestling. Even Rey's title win celebration, which should have been the defining moment of the PPV, was rushed so they could get to the Pillow Fight. It certainly didn't feel like the culmination of a series of storylines — more like just another day at the office. There are enough good moments to lift it above a total failure, but I can't recommend the show in good conscience.
Mild thumbs down here.

Edge put himself in the best of show category again. He needs to be Champion RIGHT NOW. And it is painfully obvious how much better the talent level is on Raw than smackdown. Carlito, Masters, Kane, RVD, Big Show, Edge, Shelton could all be instant or near instant main eventers on Smackdown. All Smackdown has is Angle, Taker, Benoit, and Orton...JBL and Booker don't count because they both jobbed to Boogey's 2 wrestling move show...Rey we will see, he's got his chance now.

One thing I was thinking during most of the event:
When WWE wants to book a good show, they make it ECW-like. All the hardcore stuff, a stiff JBL/Benoit match, and a rabid crowd. Come on now.
I rewatched Cena vs Triple H.. it really stunk as a wrestling match (try watching it without the sound and Wrestlemania main event hype!) but ... I'm kind of behind Cena anyhow. He has generated the most interest in the World Title in a LONG time and it was the right thing to do to keep the belt on him. If Triple H won, what? "Same old thing, Triple H as Champ" but Cena winning is INTERESTING and yeah. Cena isn't Angle, Benoit, or Michaels, and I doubt he ever will be. But ah well.

I just want to thank the WWE for letting Cena retain the belt. Makes my decision not to buy the PPV and stay up to 4am worthwhile.
A wee piece of advice for those who are mad at Cena's title reign. Don't buy the PPVs, then when you log on in the morning and see that he has won again, you actually laugh at it instead of getting mad.....it works a treat

I did not order Wrestlemania.
But I did think it was F***ING STUPID of wHHHoever booked the Cena/Hunter match to close the show instead of the Triple Threat Match with Rey's emotional win.

I have to disagree with the previous post. While Rey winning the title may have been more over / monumental / emotional, you have to have the matches in the order of how heavily they were pushed BEFORE the PPV. Everybody knew Cena / HHH would be last because they got the most hype and preview time. Combine that with the fact that Rey winning really wasn't a HUGE SURPRISE, and the surprising ending of HHH / Cena had to be last, it creates a feeling of "gotta watch it" that will lead to good raw viewership tomorrow. I agree the match perhaps deserved to be last, but thats only AFTER the outcomes were chosen.
